Rice game musings

1. Nice to dominate when we should.
2. I think this game shows that Bennett has outrectuited Rice for a couple of years or so.
3. Bennett needs to outrecruit Houston, Tulsa, and Tulane this year. May be tough.
4. Then we take on TCU, UTEP and Baylor next year.
5. Thank god we are located in Dallas with a great looking school and a good academic rep. In MHO, we will always recruit behind UT, A$M, and Tech.
6. Great defense this game.
7. Much better than last year, with a few more miracle plays and an outstanding QB, we would be 5-4 or even 6-3 so far.
8. Wish we had a running back who had after-burners when he cleared the hole. DeMyron next year or Mapps?
9. Romo vary adequate this game. His INT quotient isn't too bad is it?
10. Nice to see Chase, Givens, and Pellegrin play agressive offensive football.
11. Would like to have seen one more TD from Mustangs, maybe so without Chase fumble.
12. Defense deserved the shutout, scrambling QB lucked out for Rice.
13. Still some bad play calling in MHO.
14. Apologies to Stallion, but I still hope for winning out!!!!
8) BEAT HOUSTON. (Is this game still on TV?)

Yeah, that will be tough, with the possible exception of Tulane -- I just don't know what the coaches can tell kids and their families about next year's games, travel, housing arrangements, etc. It's the biggest wild card I've ever seen.

Stallion (and other recruitniks), have you seen any stories talking about how Tulane is recruiting? Or are they holding off to really start until January, like some teams do when they replace a coach after a season?

My guess is that we'll see some of both, although I think Martin is making harder and harder to believe he won't be the starter.

I'm glad you mentioned Pellerin -- he did a really nice job yesterday. That option pitch that he took in for the touchdown was a really nice read by Romo.

Yup and yup.

DEFINTELY deserved a shutout. Who was it that had Clement on that play and let him slide free?

That play did hurt. But I was left thinking about how much better we tackled Saturday. If the guys tackled Saturday like they did against .... Tulane, for example, we'd be sitting here trying to figure out why we couldn't stop the option. That play that they scored on was the only blatantly missed tackle I can remember in the whole game. The tackling -- and the defense overall -- was infinitely better than it was in the Tulane/A&M games, and against Rice for the last several years. Great job, fellas.
