Texas over USC

Postby Sam I Am » Sat Nov 12, 2005 6:02 pm

The Horns destroyed a supposedly good defensive team from Kansas. USC doesn't have a defense equal to Texas. I smell roses. There was a time when I consoled myself about my two alma maters, SMU and Texas, being split in two conferences by saying that I could support both of them (in the old days I always chose SMU over UT in the SWC.) The Horns success only reminds me of what we've lost since 1986.

Screw UT.
What is Vince Young driving these days?
Does he go to class?
Inquiring minds want to know. 8)

It would have been a shame if he'd blown out a knee, playing in the third quarter with a 52-7 lead.

USC has one of the best offenses ever. Too many weapons on that team. On defense, their secondary is the weak link, but they will outscore UT. My prediction: USC by two touchdowns.

First USC has to get past UCLA

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Nov 13, 2005 1:28 pm

USC may have trouble with UCLA, then what? UT will cruise by aTm, but it will be hard to smear Colorado twice. Allowing that USC plays UT, the matchups that matter are the UT offense versus the USC defense - UT wins. The other matchup is UT defense versus USC offense - UT wins again. This is one track meet that USC loses because Texas can match them score for score offensively, and the UT defense can make more stops than the Trojans. We have not had a game of this magnitude in years with both teams bringing in long undefeated records. The BCS bowl has done its job this year.

that does bring up an interesting point. Assuming UT and USC win out can someone tell me the last time we had a National Championship between schools with winning streaks of over 20 games? This is building toward one of the greatest college football classics in history. This is the REAL Big Shootout.

i don't think it will be that hard to smear colorado again, particularly since the game is in houston and that's a virtual home game for the horns.

This is not your fathers UT - they will crush Colorado - they need to be careful in Aggieville just becasue its so darn weird down there. They get though that and I will be glued to the Rose Bowl this year - what a game!!!

Who has UT really played this year? Ohio State with Zwick starting, a TT team that just lost to OSU, a terrible Oklahoma team, and contrary to what was said, Kansas is NOT a good team. On the other hand, USC hasn't played much other than Notre Dame. The first test for both teams will be when they meet in the national championship, but USC's offense will be difficult for anyone to stop, even UT.

USC's offense will beat UT's defense. They are 3-D with two outstanding running backs, two fast wide receivers and a TE that is the size of a house. Not to mention their Quarterback, who I think is as smart as they come. Leinert rarely makes mental mistakes.
I believe if USC blitzes Young in the red zone every time, UT will only come up with a field goal. This will prevent UT's receivers from burning the secondary.
Only my personal opinion--It's going to be a great game!

If those two teams win out and meet in the B(C)S title game, I just hope the game comes close to the hype that will lead up to it.

Actually, I'd like even more to see USC obliterate the Horns, because, well, I hate UT.

And mr. pony bings up a good point -- what the hell was Vince Young doing (other than padding his Heisman stats) on the field in the third quarter? He should have showered and wearing in a golf shirt and baseball hat by the end of halftime. Can you imagine the beating Mack Brown would have taken if THE OFFENSE got hurt on a play with a 40- or 50-point lead? Mack got away with one.

I was at the UT/Kansas visiting my daugther, who is in grad school there. Left after the half because the game was boring. Hardly competitive. Kansas gave up when it was 28-0 in the first quarter.

Brown has subs in by 4th quarter and they did look impressive, but Kansas had no offense. few first downs and were not a threat before the end of the first 15 minutes.

I feet they can take USC. ND showed everyone how to do it. e.g. defense and ball control.

Vitale, nice to meet you. I hate UT too. It amazes me that all these SMU fans ate gaa-gaa for UT, a school that left SMU for dead at a time when we could least afford it.

(The other three can go to hell too but UT was the ring leader. A&M was just the stupid little brother that went along.)
