Ford StadiumI did not see any games scheduled for Ford this weekend. We are playing at Texas Stadium with a 9pm kickoff. I sure wished someone at SMU could push that more.
When I went to the new rec center on Sat. there were a whole bunch of Rowlett people leaving the Ford area, the Rowlett marching band was there so they had something going on.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
There is some kind of University Park city ordinance that limits the number of playoff games SMU is allowed to host (the residents don't want the traffic). That is one of the reasons there aren't more playoff games at Ford. Maybe somebody can provide the details.
If the park cities wanted to do something about traffic they should have supported the toll tunnel under mockingbird idea.

There hasn't been any football-related traffic at Ford since the TCU game and that was a "crowd" 4,000 short of capacity. I guess the city fathers were not familiar with SMU football when they adopted ordinances related to "crowds" and "traffic". They must have been thinking of high school playoff games.
I thought Bennett made a promise to get as many high school playoff games as possible. I would much rather watch a game at Ford than Texas Stadium.
the addition is completed and open, but the old part is closed while they renovate, if you haven't yet you should go check out the new addition, its incredible (of course anything would be in comparison to what we had)

The ONLY time many SMU fans and alums are on campus is for Saturday football games - the place is locked-down. Even homecoming. I'm sure that those who can break away and go tour the facility during the week have found it impressive. It's hard to tell looking through the windows of locked doors. It ought to be OPEN because of a home football game, not CLOSED!!! The "powers-that-be" need to call Texas Christian University and ask for a seminar in "fan- friendly" and common sense.
I agree, the new Rec Center is incredible. Not sure what the outdoor fountain and sunning porch do though because nobody will use it and it had to be expensive, but overall a great facility. Too bad Moody is falling apart.
I think the "sunning area" and fountain will be extremely popular. When I was at SMU the pool area by the frosh quad was always packed with co-eds working on their tan. I'm jealous that it wasn't open when I attended school, imagine that view.

I thought Bennett convinced Copeland to tear out the semi grass stuff, and put in artificial turf in 2003. It was so we could have a lot of HS playoff games, and still host an NCAA Soccer Championship tournament?
