What if Coach Fran has worn out his welcome at Aggieland? I would vote that we extend him an invitation to remain in Texas and come rebuild us as he did at TCU.

Very unlikely scenario on a number of levels. First, A$M is not likely to admit its mistake this quick. He'll get one more year at least despite the overwhelming evidence that he's a bust. Second, if he does get fired, Fran will attempt to pull a "Butch Johnson" and wait for a better, BCS school offer.
That said, playing make believe, if Fran was available and willing, I'd take him in a heart beat. For whatever reason, he's a coach who can turn around lower tier D1 programs. What he did at New Mexico and then TCU suggests he'd be an ideal candidate here. His current position in College Station evidences to me that he's a turnaround specialist, not a big time coach. Of course, I think another big school will learn that lesson if and when he leaves A$M.
We can't afford FranSMU could never pay Fran what he is used to making. It ain't going to happen. Maybe Rick N. would take a chance on us for less.

Admittedly i haven't paid real close attention to Fran's career, but what was the situation like at Alabama? Was that a turn around, and didn't he fairly well in the SEC? What's different about tamu?
