Stat sheet shows a whopping 13 tackles by Sturdivant who was flying all over the field making sure tackles in the open field. Haywood had a great nite for a DT with 7 tackles, 3 Tackles for Loss and 2 Sacks. These guys are getting better and better each week. Also Hunphrey had the big Interception, the big block a pass broken up and 6 tackles.

I had the feeling Sturdivant would be a solid player. I had a co-worker from the Atlanta area say we scored with the kid. I was pleased to see the son of a former Mustang come back. Even more pleased that he was well regarded. Am impressed at how his level of play keeps going up. At this rate, I think we are looking at a future NFL player.
Go Ponies!

And don't forget our man Alvin Nnabuife with the big touchdown return!

The defense scored and saved the special teams bacon. Plus all the great individual efforts. They won the first quarter. Houston's offense the second. SMU's offense got the third. In the fourth it was a free for all. McMurtray has become Mr. Clutch. Can you remember him as a freshman?

No kidding, how far has that guy come since then? He IS Mr. Clutch! (There's another t-shirt the marketing department should be selling .... #31 with Mr. Clutch written across the back.) It would be nice to see a kicker getting his just due.
