What is the scouting report on UTEP

What is the scouting report on UTEP? What are the teams' weaknesses and strengths? How did UTEP lose this last weekend? I have read on other threads that UTEP has a weak defense. Is that true? What of UTEP's specialty teams? How do our players match up? What can one expect to see on Sat? :?:

in the games I've seen they have HORRIBLE CBs. I know one was a returning starter recovering from a knee injury(Delgado?). He may have recovered from that injury but he was toast early in the season. But I doubt we will be able to take advantage of that like some teams with the Big Arm QBs.

If the corners are weak, would not our improving receivers have a chace for a big day? Chase can catch a short pass and then do something with it on teh run. Our TE may well havea good game if the D is designed to protect weak corners. Can their corners come up and cover the run? How about an option?

'99, SMU had a four game winning streak.

'97, SMU had a five game winning streak.

Ok, I was out of country those years so forgive me.

Just heard on ESPN radio two announcers saying that Mike Price is a better coach than Dennis Franchione due to access to recruits/facilities versus results.

I've watched probably 5 UTEP games on TV this season, and UTEP defense is weak. Lot's of missed tackles vs UAB, over & over again. Lot's of big pass plays. It seemed easy for UAB Saturday. UTEP cannot contain a good running back. When you allow 7 touchdowns per game in several games this year, you are certainly not top 25 material. IMHO, Jordan Palmer just seems to be getting worse. His interceptions have grown more and more damaging by the week (save the TSU game).

Given that, the best thing that ever happened to UTEP was when Mike Price alledgedly had his little suaree at the titty bar one particular night a few years back. He is building a more-then-respectible program at E.P. The recruiting possibilities for next season are very promising for UTEP. And in case anyone has been thinking he might bolt, his contract has also been extended with incentives. He ain't no Billy Gillespie.

Lucky for them so is our offense.

To be honest, I really really think we're going to win this game for some reason. I don't know why but I just have that gut feeling that SMU will win. I had it vs TCU but I didn't have it vs Houston so I don't know what its worth.

I think the best thing going for SMU is the situation they are in.

UTEP just got slammed at home by UAB..a team SMU beat in Alabama.

They come home and UTEP has all the pressure on them. SMU's season is over after Saturday we have nothing that big to play for. UTEP has a Conference Title to play for.

SPOILER AGAIN! DO IT AGAIN MUSTANGS!

Nothing to play for? Winning three straight at the end of the season, and victories over TCU, UAB, Houston and El Paso would be something that we could sell to recruits.

Let's play for that, and to give our seniors a chance to go out with a three-game winning streak.

Not to mention the Texas 1-A Division II championship. That's a big championship for us.

Hey, SMU might get the chance to beat UT this weekend. Heh. ;)

Seriously, if SMU shows up with their A-game, they have a very good chance of winning this game - especially at home. Besides, SMU is only 7-point dogs, so I think the odds-makers are starting to wake up.

More than the oddsmakers, it's the betting public that sets the line.
Could it be that we're finally getting a little respect? I'm surpirsed the line is only 7 points.
