McMurtray has had a great season. We haven't had a dependable kicker in quite some time. I believe a key to us returning to mediocrity from the purgatory where we've been mired for so long is having a kicker who will make everything 45 yards and in, and will occasionally nail a 50 yarder. Having said that, who is the likely replacement for McMurtray next season and does he fit this bill? A team like CU with the nation's best kicker Mason Crosby has stolen games both this year and last because they have a kicker who never misses the ones he's supposed to make and often makes the ones most have no business attempting. Unlike other positions, you'd think kicker is a position where we could compete for some good recruits. In any event, McMurtray has been reliable for us this season and is a big reason why we've been in more games this year than any other in the Bennett Era.
