Sorry for all the posts, I guess he is very happy and doesn't know quite how to show that happiness. EV1.Net is a company I know nothing about and we get to play the # 5 or 6 Big XII team, big whoop, but at least it is better than the Las Vegas Bowl.

We signed Patterson through 2012 and guess who shows up on the front page of KSU rivals site. Yes, your very own bennett's status has been raised. He is on the front page with complete analysis. Who woulda thunk it?

EV1.net is actually Everyone's Internet, a Houston-based Internet provider.

It is also a crappy $750,000 a year payout per team. This is one of the lowest paying bowls out there.

I guess I don't understand why the Las Vegas Bowl is crappy relative to the Houston Bowl. The Houston bowl is on friggin ESPN2.

Houston Bowl is:

1. $1.2 million payout
2. vs. 5th pick in the Big 12 (most likely ranked Iowa State)
3. In the heart of the best recruiting country in the nation
4. Played in the best stadium in the nation
5. On New Year's Eve

It is a 2nd tier bowl game on par with the Liberty, Sun, Alamo, Peach, Independence, Gator Bowls. All of these games pay in the $1.1 - $1.6 million range. It just doesn't have the same tradition as those because it is so young. Remeber, though, the Houston Bowl is the reborn Bluebonnett Bowl.

For reference, 1st tier bowls in my mind are $2 million+ games (Cotton, Capital One, Holiday, Outback) and BCS bowls are in their own category.

Regarding #3: yep, Texas is a 'whole 'nuther country', ain't it? ;) Did you actually mean to say the best recruiting COUNTY in the nation?

Regarding #4: best stadium in the nation? nah.

And to compare the EV1.NET Bowl to the Bluebonnet Bowl....oh, please.

OK. The payout is $200k more. And isn't that going to be split among the other eight teams in the conference? So that is less than $50 to TCU. But it is more, I concede.

I guess playing the Big XII is good for recruiting reasons and I suppose playing in Houston has a recruiting appeal.

I would disagree that Reliant is the best stadium in the country. Better than where the Las Vegas bowl is played, for sure.

The problem is that it is on ESPN2 opposite two other bowl games that are on ESPN. To me, that is a big problem.

I guess I see the logic in picking Houston over Vegas, though as a fan I would prefer a weekend trip to Vegas to driving to Houston. And I would prefer to be the only game on at the time.

Thier logic is the money. Nothing more, nothing less. The payout is more, however miniscule the amount. It's cheaper the travel to Houston for them. Etc....

Unfortunately, it's the track record for those guys. What was thier excuse for snubbing the Mobile bowl a few years back? Something about academics? BS -- it was about money.

Someday these guys will get thier comeuppance for the way they are doing business. I really hope it's soon.

The logic is not money for TCU anyway (though that helps), it is about playing in the best bowl possible and especially about getting as many MWC teams in a bowl game as possible. Las Vegas is a nice bowl, but if TCU went there only 3 teams would play in bowls from the MWC. Since the conference was able to fill those slots with other teams it allowed TCU to accept another bid.

Stupid comments being made by clueless sports fans.

Riiiiight - you guys just took one for the team right - it just happened to be for 500,000 more.

and the reason to get more MWC teams in bowls is..... more money.

Why this is a mystery to anyone I don't know...also - SMU would do the same
