We need someone who know how to apply the "iron claw". I thought all the Von Ericks were dead.

No, Kevin is still alive. I believe he lives out in E. Texas now. From what someone was telling me, he made an appearance on a recent episode of WWE Raw that they had filmed over at the AAC about a month ago. Long live Jack Adkisson!

If I remember correctly, he also played for a time with the Dallas Texans in the old AFL.

BTW,speaking of former SMU football players turned rasslers....don't forget about good ol' Hacksaw Jim Duggan. haha

Kerry Von Erich was on the SMU track team as a thrower in the 70's.

Are you sure? I thought he was at U of H when he was doing track. I remember reading he was supposed to be headed to Moscow when the boycott was called and that's when he decided to go ahead with wrestling.

From the Von Erich website:

"One of the greatest Von Erich athletic achievements came when Kerry, who knew his father (Fritz) still held some discus records at SMU, wanted to become a discus thrower just like his dad. Fritz made sure he was serious, then became Kerry's coach in high school. Their combination resulted in setting a new junior world record in the discus. "I saw my way to make Dad proud and decided to pursue it." said Kerry. If breaking the junior world record was not the proudest moment, then breaking the SMU school record was. Kerry, at one SWC meet, broke the longstanding SMU discus record held by an old SMU star named Jack Adkisson. The crowd went wild when they realized that Jack Adkisson was Fritz Von Erich and that Kerry had just broken his father's record."

I also question that fact-I know one of the kids went to NTSU on athletic scholarship under Hayden Fry. My twin brother was on the track team from 1977-1981 and I worked in the SID office and don't remember that-on the hand I stayed out WAY too late last nite. I'd bet he broke his father's record at NTSU. Where are our good buddies Frick & Frack-we don't hear much from them since their 3 or was it 2 win season.

Here is what the actual VonErich website has to say....
KERRY VON ERICH

Real Name: Kerry Gene Adkisson

Birth Date: February 3, 1960

Birth Place: Niagara Falls, NY

Kerry was the fourth son of Jack and Doris Adkisson. He was born shortly after their first son, Jack Jr. (“Jackie”) was electrocuted in a tragic accident. Kerry was a great football player and excelled at throwing the discus. He broke records at many levels including his father's own junior world record. He received a scholarship to the University of Houston where the Olympic coach would be his trainer. Kerry qualified for the 1980 US Olympic team, but the games were boycotted that year. He then decided to join his brothers in the ring. Kerry was very charismatic and a great performer. In 1984, he became NWA World Heavyweight Champion and enjoyed years of success in the wrestling. Outside of the ring, Kerry was the joker of the family. He loved making people laugh and had a daredevil personality. Kerry became addicted to painkillers after a motorcycle accident in 1986. In 1993 he was arrested for possesing painkillers without a prescription, and faced prison time. Feeling overwhelmed, Kerry committed suicide at the family ranch on February 18, 1993. His two daughters, Hollie and Lacey, are in college.
