FINAL COFFEE WITH BENNETT

Postby ALEX LIFESON » Sat Dec 03, 2005 10:55 pm

There will be a final coffee with Phil, on December 6th at 7am!
Should be a good recap of the season, with some recruiting news mixed in!

I think Stallion is busy trying to shake off a skull crushing hangover, at
7am. It's tough skirt chasing at his age!

Did nobody go today, to be able to give a report? Any recruiting news. Were the donuts good. Was the coffee hot. Anything.

The BUS had only one donut and yes it was good. Then my stomach had gas all day. I'm old too, Mydrel.

PB was in form with a quick wit and funny stories. Had a good one about McMurtry and the exit meeting. Chris would not be phased by Parcells and has a chance to be a pro.
PB gave some stuff to some M-club people and some other schools coaches. Funny times.

He is going to work with only 13 ships to give away and the pace has picked up since the UTEP win. We should get some JUCO's and he is working on transfer hours and the details of getting some players into SMU. ( It is not easy )

Last point, PB loves football, and I am amaized that he can tell you the number, name and stats of most players on the OTHER team and knows everything about his own players.

Good Time and I can Not Wait till TT.

Bus, thanks for the info. Glad I wasn't there for the gas problem.

so do share with us the "difficulty" that SMU has in getting JUCOs in because of transfer hours(sounds like an echo)-don't just slide over that major issue and talk about how great the donuts were. What is Bennett's position on the standards.

Why don't you go and find out? But to answer your question, yes, he did share with us "the "difficulty" that SMU has in getting JUCOs is because of transfer hours"

basically because I knew that was the case for the last 15 years including SINCE the commitment-just wanted to hear Mustang Clubbers admit I was right all along.

"just wanted to hear Mustang Clubbers admit I was right all along...."

I'm starting to doubt you even go to the games, because I'm not sure a 32,000-seat stadium is big enough for that ego -- this is about the Mustangs, not about you. Come on, Stallion, you're better than that. You know as well as everyone else about the difficulty we've had getting JUCOs in because of all the knuckleheaded rules that have been in place around here. Blame Pye, blame the NCAA, blame the cosmic forces of the universe .... whatever. But you've said many times that one of the important things Coach Bennett has done has been to work on changing those rules and standards. Like you said, you've known it for 15 years. Tell you what: put your money where your mouth is, join the Mustang Club and go to these breakfasts and ask him. If you weren't there to ask him, and he chose to talk about recruiting and the strong finish to the season, how can you chastise another for merely reporting what was said?

Come on guys, don't you know that stallion is the self-proclaimed smartest guy on the planet? Now we can add biggest ego. I am sure several of us would include biggest a--hole.

I'm not saying that at all. I don't dislike Stallion. I like a lot of what Stallion has to say .... most of the time. But the whole "I just wanted the Mustang Clubbers to admit I was right" statement really just rubbed me the wrong way, I guess. Had a real "ME before TEAM" feel to it, that's all.

Shoulds like he should have gone and had donut's with Bus and he would not have this problem. Sorry it was easy to pass on.
