Does anyone know who this person is? Please don't let it be someone in some silly 'mascot-type' costume!!! Anyone got a pic of this person yet? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!!!

From a news release: "SMU will also debut the Mustang Maniac - SMU's newest entertainer and number one fan. His job is to create excitement for all fans at Mustang sporting events, and his debut as he leads the team onto the field on August 31 cannot be missed."

Thanks, PP. My father (SMU '48 and a former SMU yell leader!) is gonna have a friggin' heart attack at the Navy game when he sees this silly character! Please have paramedics standing by...

Let's give the "Maniac" a chance. BUT... if he is the least bit cheesy, we need to give him the hook.....

Is he going to be back this year, or did he make enough of a negatie impression that we won't have to see him around anymore?

Whoa!

That's the first response to this post in a year. Somebody had some time on their hands to go retrieve this.

MikeDamone: You took the words right out of my mouth! It must be 'dull' in Dallas right now...or awfully hot!...for this post to work its way back around!

Little did I know how prophetic my original statement would be about my Dad having a 'heart attack' since that's how he passed away last December. But he's up above The Hilltop (as well as 'below' it Image ) and ready to get our Mustangs on track to a winning season!

As for the Mustang Maniac, I'll see what I can find out...actually, just look for ME to be the REAL MUSTANG MANIAC in the stands this year!

Is that awful big black Stalker they called a mascot last year going to be back? He/it was horrible and an embarassment. Reminded me of the time Irving Driebolt had the band in some little horses that hung from the band's waist. My Dad saw that and said "You wanted to go to THIS school?" Awful ideas! At least we never saw the hanging horses after that one disaster.
