Anyone know who is on the short list to replace Hatfield?

Dom Capers (Houston Texans) will probably be out of a job soon.

Not so fast, my friend!
That's true, but surely you don't think he'd go from the NFL to Rice. I'm assuming they'll grab a coordinator from a mid-level school.

they've mention Jim Harbaugh(U of San Diego), Schultz(TCU OC), and Turner Gill(who is about to take the Buffalo Head Coaching job. Its the worst job in Division 1A.

anybody notice that Turner Gill went to Buffalo as HC? Thats a guy we used to talk about as a potential for SMU. He might have been good for Rice too with his Nebraska, option style background that would fit their personnel.

They should look at Gary Barnett. While he might prefer spending his $3 million severance on the golf course next season, he won at Northwestern and probably wants to prove to the world that he can still coach.

I doubt Rice wants to deal with the drama and baggage that will come with Barnett. Can't see this happening.

There is growing frustration on the Rice board about the lack of information and the seemingly lack of progress; as of a day or so ago, no search committee had been formed.
If I were to guess, there is one name I think footballscoop.com is right about-Les Koenning. He was a candidate for the New Mexico State job. I asume they mean Jr. as he is the OC at A&M; Sr. was a prominent HS coach in Houston.

Hatfield should have stayed - but they should go for R C Slocum if they can get him. I don't think someone's coordinator can do the job.

Do they have any commitments we should be trying to steal?

Why is that mean? Several of our players were swiped when Coach Cavan was dismissed. It's all part of the business.
Notice I'm not saying we should be trying to steal Tulane recruits. That would be mean. If those guys have decided they want to go to Tulane, then I applaud them, and wish them well. Tulane is a great school, and deserves every break it can get right now. I would suggest that there should be a hands-off policy for any recruit who has committed to Tulane.

Maybe they are going to shut down the program. I think that would be wise - no pun intended

Oh, wise one...what team would you pick to replace Tulane in CUSA?
