Martin Named Freshman All-American
Allen Native Earns Honorable Mention Nod

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU freshman running back DeMyron Martin has been named an honorable mention Freshman All-American by The Sporting News, the publication announced Monday.

Martin, a graduate of Allen, was also an All-Conference USA Freshman selection. He accounted for all three touchdowns in SMU's win over TCU, rushing for 118 yards against the Frogs. He finished with four 100-yard rushing games in 2005 and his 854 yards on the season is the third-best freshman total in school history.

Just want to echo the sentiments expressed by everyone on this thread. DeMyron Martin seems like a pretty special talent, and it's fantastic that some national media types recognize that. Here's to a better sophomore year, a better junior year and a senior year that sets C-USA on fire!
CONGRATULATIONS, DeMYRON!

Well-deserved. That kid will be one to keep an eye on in the coming years. It's amazing how someone his size pushes piles like a fullback. I look forward to seeing more of him.

I am still ticked we had this kind of back and no one knew it before the Baylor game. That could have changed our season beating Baylor.
