I think we take 'em.....34 - 24....Hopkins picks Lienert twice...Eric with a big game, Lance works his magic...Richard Neeley "owns" Bush (hold to 75 yards)....Long Live Gary Moten.

this year's USC team is great, let me start w/ that, but does anyone else think it's putting the cart before the horse when ESPN is comparing them to all of these GREAT teams from the past that went UNDEFEATED when their season isn't over yet.

I'm not saying that UT will win this game, but stranger things have happened when a #2 plays #1.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

How does USC's payroll compare to that of the 1982 SMU team?

Ladies and gentlemen: Above is the latest insightful posting from FrogSnob. In a pathetic effort to tarnish the reputation of a SMU team from 23 years ago, FrogSnob now scoops the rest of the world by sacrcastically telling us that SMU was accused of paying players 23 years ago! Shocking! Tell us, FrogSnob, was the Death Penalty enacted against SMU? Pray tell, what happened next, Scoop?

(I think he is still pi$$ed-off and bitter because TCU is now SMU's [deleted] in both football and basketball. "TCU: The number two team in a two-team Metroplex!")

Lineart is no Dan Marino. Look at what the 82 team did to the most prolific passing QB in NFL history. Imagine the RB's in this game. Dickerson and Bush and White and James. The veer versus the West Coast offense. This game would be more hyped than the UT v. USC matchup of today based on the amount NFL calibre talent that the 82 team had.

My opinion is that USC is unable to stop the Pony Express and the SMU D makes a late pick to seal a 34-31.

Also, I want to note that USC is claiming to be current back to back national champions. I would like for SMU to lay claim to our 1982 and 1981 champtionships. I noticed that 'Bama also claims anything that is listed on the NCAA website. Can't see why we shouldn't either.

SMU might squeak one out.. but only because of the offense. Don't see us keeping up with their ariel attack.. too many weapons. No doubt.. it would be a track meet.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

This '05 team isn't even as good as their '04 counterparts...that said.

USC '05 42 SMU '82 35

No matter how good our d was, there has never been an offense like USC has right now.

No way. SMU 28, USC 17.

With our ground attack, USC would hardly see the ball and they would be so frustrated when they did have the ball they would make enough mistakes for SMU to beat them.

Of course, both teams are great and as we all know the '82 Mustangs were the National Champion and hopefully the '05 Trojans will be as well.

Can you imagine a "real" Mustang fan posting 1118 times on the Frog board. Must be an interesting hobby. "Yes sir, my hobbies are sewing and posting on other team's websites. It's real neat. By the way, my school in Ft. Worth has a real pretty campus with pretty buildings." As I recall there was a payroll at Frogville going on at the same time. Only difference was, it still didn't help them win.
