I remember it like yesterday, but then again I'm a Medicare baby these days too. When it has been 24 years since SMU was in the Cotton Bowl beating Pittsburg, then you know it has been a long, long time since our glory days. We have a whole generation of fans who never enjoyed Mustang Mania like we did in 1982 at the Cotton Bowl. I knew at the time we might not ever see another pony express like DickerJames, but I never expected to suffer the losses we've had since 1989. Part of our problem is that we have to look backwards rather than look forward to find fame and glory. Thanks to the BCS, the spineless NCAA, and a low budget athletic department, I think we are doomed to be a second tier program from now on.
