Of course, my stepdaughters know who Doak is. They've been raised right. Sadly, I wonder how many folks in the Cotton Bowl today said to themselves, "Who's Doak Walker?"

That is because the PA announcer was the great Bill Melton!

Interesting -- I wonder who the last person was to call him "great." He wasn't horrible, but I've never heard someone more in love with his own voice. That guy would probably read a phone book out loud just so he could hear himself talk. Give me Dan Bell any day -- no contest.
