...with 8 NFL teams, as of today, with the firing of HC Norv Turner with the Oakland Raiders.

Detroit fired Steve Mariucci in November and Kansas City's [deleted] Vermeil retired on Sunday. Other coaches who have been fired include Mike Martz of St. Louis, Jim Haslett of New Orleans, Mike Tice of Minnesota, Mike Sherman of Green Bay and Dom Capers of Houston.

Wonder how many - if any - will get a call from a college team...?

I would not be surprised if Wisconsin did not contact a couple of them. Isn't their job still open, or did they elevate someone?

The architect of numerous firsts for Wisconsin, Alvarez became the first Badgers coach to win his finale since Milt Bruhn in 1966. Defensive coordinator Bret Bielema takes over as coach.

Most of the college vacancies have been filled this year. After next season who knows. Many of these guys still had open years in their contracts and probably want to continue to collect NFL money. That ends when they take another coaching job. There will be some musical chairs there possibly Mariucci to Green Bay. Next year there may be some college jobs that might look at former NFL coaches.
