TEXAS by 21
UT 38-17 USC Arguments for: a) USC hasn't seen a defense close to TEXAS b) USC has no defense c) UT has an offense Arguments against: a) USC has played in now their 3rd straight Nat'l Champ game Therefore: b) Texas will be tight / USC will be lose c) REGGIE BUSH Sur-rebuttal: a) Texas played in the Rose Bowl last year, and it is now familiar turf. b) Vince Young + those unheralded excellent RBs
You're right -- USC hasn't seen a defense as good as UT's. However, to suggest that USC has no defense is wrong -- the Trojans led the nation in takeaways. They might not be smothering (see Fresno State game, for instance), but they definitely are a legit defense. And yes, UT has a good offense. You forgot LenDale White, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve (I think) Smith, some guy named Leinart (who also has a Heisman on his shelf) and, in my opinion, the best coach in the country. Unheralded? Everyone's calling Ramonce Taylor "the other Reggie Bush," Henry Melton is being touted as "the next Jerome Bettis" and Jamaal Charles has replaced Adrian Peterson as the most heralded freshman RB in the country. They're excellent, but USC has the horses to replicate them in practice more than UT has the guys to replicate Bush and White in practice. USC 34 Texas 20
Reggie is faster than all Texas Defenders.
However, the 'delta' between his speed and Texas LBs and DBs is much much smaller,... Moreover, there are ELEVEN fast TEXAS defenders out there, rather than the usual 2, 3 or 4 speedy players like in the PAC10 or other (witness the Notre Dame lack of speed vs. Ohio State please). Fresno only had trouble with USC if Reggie got out in the open. He is going to have far fewer opportunities to be open against Texas. Btw, that was a Fresno team that lost what 3 in a row after USC (to Nevada, Tulsa, LaTech). USC's big big win was against OREGON - another horrible PAC10 fake Top10 team. And they should have lost to ND. They aren't going to have MAGIC comebacks against TEXAS.like they did in the Arizona State / Fresno State / and all the other ones this year. This aint' your '03 and '04 USC team my friend. Texas RBs are horribly overshadowed by Vince Young and thus, are not common household RBs. My statement stands. Your witness
The 'hell of a game' title goes to the Orange Bowl, right now. TRIPLE OT! ![]()
