Interesting that it took another arrest and a vicious attack to get VT to finally act, but he is officially kicked out of school.

What was he arrested for?
I just saw the stomping incident in the bowl game.

he was pulled over for driving with a suspended license back in December. I don't know that he'd go very high. Too many issues with him. Of course, some one will take a chance on him but don't be surprised if he ends up going the same route as Maurice Clarett.

but unlike MC, there's at least one Virginia Tech alum that will continue supporting Marcus Vick.

pretty sad about Maurice.

Personally I can't stand the punk. However, this is a big problem that the NCAA has. Now that Beamer has tossed his butt off the team then he has to go play at a D-1AA school or lower or sit out a year. I would not be surprised to see this challenged in court since this is the school's decision to not keep him around. Most players that have this happen to them do not have the money to fight the NCAA but I would not be surprised if Vick might be able to get his brother to help him. I am of the opinion that if a school revokes a scholarship of a player for whatever reason then he is a free agent and can go looking to play anywhere he wants to.

Just saw the stomping incident on channel 5 sports. If I was the victim,
I'd file assault charges.

If I owned an NFL team, or managed/coached any team at any level, he
wouldn't play for me PERIOD

This type of punk NO CLASS behavior seems to be becoming common
on most BCS teams. Also, teams challenging to go to a BCS bowl. See
the froggies.

I am just ranting about the NCAA. Vick could play another year if he wanted to play 1-AA but that is really not an option so he went pro. Most athletes in this situation can only bend over and take it. Vick has a wealthy brother that could have fought the NCAA.

If you look at the court cases against the NCAA, this unique situation has never been fought in the court room. In fact, I think it is a shame that schools that can run off players that they offered scholarships to either sit out a year or go to D-1AA in football. Nothing like a coach getting buyers remorse, pulling his scholarship, and then costing a kid a year of eligibilty. The rule should be that if a school does not renew a scholarship for another year then the student is allowed to go where he wants and accept a scholarship from whatever school offers one without losing any eligibilty.

How sad is this? Just saw this on ESPN.com:

Marcus Vick arrested after saying he'll go proESPN.com news services

Two days after declaring his intention to enter the NFL draft, Marcus Vick was arrested on Monday and charged with three counts of brandishing a firearm, the Suffolk, Va., police department said in a statement.

Vick, 21, turned himself in after police in Suffolk, Va., issued a warrant for his arrest, saying Vick pointed a weapon at a teenage male and two others in the parking lot at a McDonalds, the statement said.

The junior quarterback had been kicked off the team at Virginia Tech on Friday for his moves on and off the field, including an incident in the Jan. 2 Toyota Gator Bowl, when he was caught on tape stomping on the left calf of Louisville All-American defensive end Elvis Dumervil after a tackle.

Vick was suspended from school in 2004 because of several legal problems, and came under intense scrutiny this week after replays of his actions against Dumervil. Vick claimed it was accidental, but hurt his cause by claiming to have apologized to Dumervil, the NCAA sacks leader. Dumervil said he received no such apology.

The last straw came Friday, even as Beamer was preparing to offer Vick the option of accepting a two-game suspension or deciding to leave Virginia Tech.

A fax sent to Steger's office disclosed that Vick had been stopped for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone and driving with a revoked or suspended license on Dec. 17. Vick had told Beamer about the ticket for driving on a suspended license on Dec. 19, Beamer said, but had never mentioned to anyone that he'd also been caught speeding.

Vick's license had been taken away in August 2004 when he was cited for reckless driving and marijuana possession, but had been reinstated until a friend driving a car owned by Vick was pulled over and found to not have insurance, Beamer said.

In 24 career games, Vick threw for 2,868 yards, 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also ran 184 times for 492 yards and six TDs.

A $10,000 bond was set for Vick.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

I'm sorry, but he just can't seem to get it through his head that there are limits. And by the way regarding having to go to 1-AA, that wouldn't have been so bad. I suspect Doug Williams could have done a lot to help him get ready for the pros at Grambling for example. I'd say he probably couldn't get into much trouble there, but I'd say the same thing about Blacksburg, Va. and he managed to even get into trouble there.

Come on...if the kid has his scholarship revoked because he has violated the NCAA honor conduct statute, you really think that NCAA should be forced to change their rules? Being thrown off a team is supposed to be a horrible punishment, we shouldn't caudle the culprit by allowing them to transfer without punishment. Think about this scenario..you are going into your senior year of football and stuck behind some sophomore. You have three choices, you can be a good team player and take the backup role, you can go to D-1AA and be buried in the masses or you can break some major rule and transfer without punishment to another D1 program where you might get to start and possibly shine for the scouts. Which do you think alot of these kids with no serious employment options other than football are going to take?

This story gets more and more unreal. It's amazing doesn't learn. Guy's got the world in front of him, and he's doing everything he can to blow it.

marcus vick apparently thinks he entitled to "get away with murder" so to speak because of his last name. i personally can't stand him, or anything he has done to represent himself, university, or family. It would be such sweet poetic justice for this moron to sit and rot in a jail cell somewhere for his actions.

i think what bugs me the most about him is his talent and the opportunity that he had, and wasted.

Well, let's think for a second about what this kid has been taught. He had multiple run-ins with the law a couple years ago, and what did he learn from that whole experience? He learned that he can do anything he wants with no consequences. Beamer taught him that. Doesn't surprise me at all.

Now, how does that work? Break a rule & transfer to another DI? Never heard of that...
