Smoking grass

Now that the fires have been extinguished, is there any reason that the south end zone is usually roped off from student access? Sitting in the grass watching the game would be a pretty cool experience. I saw a handful of guys along the lower wall there, but I think that's more the exception than the rule at this moment.

Probably just as well that they don't! If they had last night, you would have had SMU fans bursting into flames like the Nazis did when the Ark of the Covenant was opened in "Raiders of the Lost Ark"!!!!!

I can't believe that ESPN didn't get highlights (lowlights?) of that debacle with the grass fire on their broadcasts last night or today! Too funny!

What idiot in the SMU marketing/PR dept. thought up this one? Fireworks near a dry, grassy area with spectators sitting only a few feet away....yeah, makes sense to me. LOL

I can only assume that the University Park Fire Dept. gave authorization to this. Fireworks in the city...gotta have a permit for that, too!

For more on my thoughts on this and other things about the SMU v. Navy game, please read the thread "On a dark desert highway'....

It's even worse when you consider that the school paid for the fireworks plus what it's going to cost to get our fancy grass fixed.

Logically speaking, the reason they rope off the grassy knoll, is probably because there is a plethora of empty seats in the stadium. Let people sit in the grass and the stadium looks even more vacant.
