First, I am not sure when the checks are actually cut, so they may not have gotten any yet. But yes, they will get a portion of the bowl money that went to CUSA schools. As I understand the agreement, the school first gets its expenses reimbursed, and then the conference splits the rest of the money. If a school does not sell out its allotment of tickets, then it is deducted from the money going to the conference. As I understand it, the CUSA schools sold out their alloted tickets in the Ft. Worth, GMAC, Motor City, Liberty, and New Orleans Bowls. They did not apparently sell out their allotment to the Hawaii Bowl (and travel costs for Central Florida to Hawaii probably ate up a ton of the guarantee). That said, we should get a check in the $200,000 range. Contrast that with the WAC where we got nothing.

NO! NO! NO! NO! It is not meant as a slush fund. We can't do that, remember? Use that money for expanding our recruiting area further out than the 300 mile radius circle. There is good talent in other states that are just outside the limit. More recruiting travel money.

Why expand our recruiting circle? We haven't capitalized on the talent in our own backyard just yet (Matt Stafford, Chris Olson of HP). Lets use that $300k and hold a combine this summer that shows off Ford

you're joking about Stafford and Olson, right? I'm as big a fan of SMU as anyone on here, but let's get real. if you think for one NANO second that either of those guys would even think about SMU you're smoking some serious stuff.

We're less likely to get the top notch talent at HP than at some other school in the Southen Sector of Dallas. the kids at HP's parents can afford to travel to see them play every weekend, whereas some stud from Lincoln may want to be around his mamma and have her come to games. DART runs to Mockingbird, not Lubbock or elsewhere. Additionally, top notch talent at HP is wise enough to know that their exposure level will be much greater at a BCS school. AND, they're not going to be loured into the limelight that is SMU. HP kids have lived, and will continue to live the 'champagne' lifestyle that SMU offers. it's nothing glamorous to see a bunch of BMW's and Range Rovers, hot blondes, designer clothes, when you are the one with it all.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Let's put the money towards something to help us in recruiting. Or to renovate Moody. Is their a fund going for this by the way?

That is wrong. Olson in fact came down between SMU and Texas Tech High, but decided on TT because of better facilities. I know that there was a mention in the paper this week about Texas HS recruits wanting to get out of state to make a name for themselves, but for every one of those, there is also someone who would like to remain close. The most discouraging thing I have seen in this years recruiting, is that the only thing close to a local commitment we have is the LB from Denton.
