Ramon Flanigan Comment

• Best bit of trash talk I heard this weekend came last night, while I was out with a few coaches in some restaurant-bar where North Texas O-coordinator/former SMU QB star Ramon Flanigan has attained a hero status. Seems Ramon's pal Jethro Franklin, USC's D-line coach, was a bit, um, chaffed that the kitchen was closed and we couldn't get anything more to eat than nachos. Franklin was riding Ramon pretty good and Ramon (who is a few years younger than Jethro) started talking about how if it came to the field, Jethro could never catch him.

Jethro, in his own not-so-soft-spoken way, disagreed. Ramon laughed and then came back with: "Well, if you did, I would be the first quarterback you tried to defend all week."

OUCH.
I trust Ramon was smart enough to say that without creeping into arm's reach.
