I was looking at Rivals today. They have changed the position of Phillip Burley from WR to ATH and the position for Tim Crosby from DB to ATH. Any comments?

Crosby played QB and S most of the time in HS. Burley played RB, WR and TE. The Athlete term is often used to designate a player who is being recruited at multiple positions.-I wouldn't place any great significance on it. Both players probably face a pretty big adjustment moving to college football though since Burley is jumping from 2A and Crosby has apparently rarely played CB where he is expected to play in college. I'm surprised no one has commented on the Rivals' video with Burley at 6-5 playing wishbone HB. Pretty strange sight.

Crosby played CB until his junior year. In 11th grade, he played mostly quarterback, and there was talk of playing him at CB this year, but in Garland's defense, they put the so-called "impact" players at safety, so that's where they put Crosby.

Incidentally, his QB career was cut short this year. While throwing a pass, he got hit, straining his shoulder and forcing him to sit out a week. He then came back and started playing WR for the Owls, and according to GHS coach Jeff Jordan, was pretty good at it. Jordan said that when he played CB, Crosby had "great feet and very natural cover skills."

Jordan also said that in Garland's district, most opponents employ run-heavy offenses, so Crosby was forced to press the line of scrimmage a lot. Jordan said Crosby is a much harder hitter than his size would indicate.

According to Texas Football, Crosby was player of the year in his district as a sophmore so he must be very talented!

Yeah, I'm almost positive that they have always been ATH.
