Drinking the KoolaidPB was more pumped up about the immediate future of the football program last night than I have ever seen from him. He talked last night about how last year should raise the bar of expectations for the program. That we should expect to win from here on out.
So, I thought I would start this thread. I, Jason, have drunk the koolaid. I trust the talent evaluation skills of PB. Although I acknowledge that we have unknowns at OLB and QB next year, I have seen the dramatic improvement in skill level of our players and am excited about the future, both short and long term. I am ready to set the bar higher and am ready to expect and support a winning SMU football team from this point forward. I have already made a donation to the Mustang Club this year. I pledge that I WILL attend at least one road game this year (even if it is just North Texas). I pledge that I WILL travel to the CUSA championship game if we make it that far. I pledge that I WILL travel to any bowl game that we make this year. Most importantly, I pledge my support for PB, the rest of the coaching staff, and SMU football. Let's go kick some A**. Who's with me?
Raise the bar?? Over what, his eleven and forty-something record?? I'm sorry, but I can live with my "no expectations" policy just fine for the time being, being none too disappointed when we lose, and pleasantly surprised when we when.
Would Like Ice With That Cool Aid?![]() ![]() Full Steam Ahead!
Do you need anymore ice? Let me help you arrange those deck chairs.
Put me down for a full jug.
The overall athleticism and talent level is lightyears above what it was when Coach Bennett arrived. JasonB is right -- if we get decent QB play (doesn't have to be Matt Leinart) and some contributions from some of the new LBs, we'll show continued improvement next year. I'm ready to go bowling!
I am definitely ready for next year - and you could say I've had my share of the kool-aid already.
Put me down for every home game + tailgating on the Boulevard before, plus definite road trips for the UNT and Tulane games. I think all SMU fans that can make the trip should go down to New Orleans for the Tulane game - the city will need all the visitors it can get. I was in NOLA over winter break, and it felt really great to be spending tourist dollars in that great city - SMU v. Tulane in New Orleans - 2006, lets do it (and lets win this time)!
Are we sure the game will be played in NO?
Im heading to Lubbock, Denton (if you say you're an SMU fan but don't want to travel here then I will be mad at you ![]() If we go to a bowl game (Fort Worth Bowl I betcha) then Im for sure going no matter what. CUSA Championship depending where it is and how much. ![]()
How does the Kool-aid man get those ice cubes in his head? His arms are too short to put them in himself. Surely they have to be replaced periodically as ice cubes melt. Wait! Unless they're not real ice cubes...
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.
You sound like a Dallas Cowboys fan (kidding) .... "I'll support them if they're winning." They're your team, you support them -- it's what we do! As for trips: I'll be in Houston for the Rice game, I'll be in New Orleans (the team owes us one there) and of course I'll wander up the road to Denton. Beyond that .... not sure. I think everyone should make an extra effort to get to New Orleans. I think Tulane fans were extremely appreciative of the hospitality, and being great people anyway, I bet they'd roll out the red carpet for us. Not that they owe us ANYTHING -- god knows the good folks of New Orleans don't owe anybody anything -- but I bet it would be a really memorable visit, win or lose.
Count me in for as many games that don't conflict with my son's Pee Wee football. I am looking forward to the game in NOLA. Still have found memories of the last time we played there. Tech is a given as is Denton. Rice as well should be a good game to attend. We can wrap up the CUSA championship with a donkey show and football game. Of course, this all depends on games being scheduled at night so I can get there. I figure I can easily attend 8 games this year.
