OK, looking to fall '06

Postby peruna81 » Fri Feb 03, 2006 2:05 pm

Now that we have all had some time to reflect on the '05 season, the miracle wins and the near misses, what say you about the upcoming year...untested QB ( again )...LB/kicking game issues ? what is your late winter-early spring win loss estimate ( barring injuries/rock band/academic defections...?

6-5

I'll say 6-5, unless someone from the firm of Slater, Willis & Johnson plays above expectations. In that case .... I'll still say 6-5. We'll have a very young secondary, with the exception of Old Man Sturdivant, and we have a lot of holes to fill at linebacker.

6-5.

So with a few exceptions, you're saying the teams we beat last year we'll lose to and visa versa.

wow, LF68, that's damn specific.
....

Seeing as this is pre-spring ball, pre-red/blue game, pre-2-a-days, etc. I'm gonna' be omptimistic and say

8-4

in the regular season. (Though my gut is tellin me 6-6/7-5.) We'll just see how the off season plays out... but if DeMyron gets 30 or carries against TTech, we win. And who knows what happens from there...

Yup, pretty much. For the most part SMU beat teams they weren't "supposed to" and lost to teams they should have beat.

Guess I'll go.

@ Texas Tech - Loss - 0-1 (0-0)
I think we'll keep it close for a while but ultimately Tech pulls it out.

@ North Texas - Win - 1-1 (0-0)
We better win this game. And I don't mean just win it..I mean win it big.

vs Sam Houston State - Win - 2-1 (0-0)
We'll start off bad but the 2nd half we'll pull away luckily.

vs Arkansas State - Win - 3-1 (0-0)
A lot closer than I think people will predict but in the end SMU pulls out a close one.

@ Tulane* - Win - 4-1 (1-0)
Coming off three straight wins, SMU takes revenge from the Tulane game in 05 and pulls out a victory. Close going into the 4th but SMU pulls it out.

vs Marshall* - Win - 5-1 (2-0)
We're on a roll. There is no question SMU should've won this game last season and I think we win it big.

vs UAB* - Loss - 5-2 (2-1)
We were lucky to pull the win out last year and I think UAB gets some revenge from us this year..with a game almost exactly like last season except UAB is on the winning end.

@ ECU* - Win - 6-2 (3-1)
I thought we played without any intensity againist the Pirates last season and we still could've/should've won the game last year but we didn't. I think this will be one of those games were we makes a lot of mistakes but still come out with the victory.

vs Tulsa* - Win - 7-2 (4-1)
For whatever reason, the team that is the home team when they play always seems to win. I thought we played very well againist them last season and I think we will pull out the victory this year.

@ Rice* - Win - 8-2 (5-1)
Come on now...It's Rice. We played like TOTAL crap last year and we actually won by 3 scores. No reason we shouldn't dominate them.

vs Houston* - Loss - 8-3 (5-2)
I just don't know. I think this is one of those games that we could easily win but then again we could easily lose so Im going to say we lose it for now, in another close one.

@ UTEP* - Loss - 8-4 (5-3)
I just think UTEP will want this one more. We dominated them last year and that will give them a little momentum for this year's game. UTEP barely wins this one but does win it.

Fort Worth Bowl - vs Kansas - Win 9-4 (5-3)
I don't know who we would play but I know Kansas played in it last year so I just put them in this one because of that. I think we win this one in an overtime game.

So thats 9-4 and Champions of the FW Bowl. Wow. That would be AWESOME!!

Good, but not quite as good as beating USC in the Sun Bowl.

We ain't beating Tech in Lubbock even if Martin runs for 200 yards and he won't. SMU has played exactly 2 maybe 3 --if you count the No. 2 team in the country beating a 4 win team on a miracle-- good football games in Lubbock since 1968. They are better than us from top to bottom at every position on the field.
