Turner, Ford, and Hunt

I think Turner, Ford, and Hunt are well qualified to find SMU the best AD we can get. Certainly they have the best interests of SMU in mind. They don't need our help on this one. I'm sure that Secules, Waters, etc. have good selling points. But there may be someone else out there who is better. Give these guys a chance to do their job.

I lost my faith in them when Copeland was not fired long ago.

One thing I think we can be pretty sure of is that these guys will not be coming to PonyFans.com message boards looking for a list of candidates...thankfully.

At least one of them probably hunted down, and canned Hayden Fry.

Turner, I'm not exactly sure when he hired in, may have signed off on
hiring Copeland.

We're DOOMED :!:

You forgot Carl Sewell who now heads the board of trustees, which gives him a LOT of power in this selection. My source says that he is determined to hire a difference maker with experience. One major concern is his health. Evidentally he is being treated for throat cancer, but appears to be handling it well so far. I also understand that Lamar Hunt has cancer. I haven't seen him at any of the basketball games that I have attended so far. I pray that both have a full and complete recovery from this terrible disease!

I remember distinctly that Copeland was hired months before Turner. Turner had nothing to do with it. I'm not even sure if Pye had anything to do with it. The only one of the three that could have been there when Fry was dismissed was Hunt and I doubt if he had anything to do with that.

Our program was struggling so much in those days that in my opinion, Copeland was a good hire. A much better A.D. than anybody expected or than we deserved. You probably don't agree which is your privilege.

I thought Gerald Ford was the head of the Board of Trustees. Is that not the case?

Actually, I thought Lamar Hunt's statement in Calvins DMN article today about how much the AD job has changed just since Copeland was hired sounded promising. Hunt also indicated that we needed an AD with new Marketing talents to help develope Fan Support in the Dallas area, which hopfully would put us on the right track.

Then I hope the reports about Sewell's and L. Hunt's health also are inaccurate.

That's an old link from 2001 about Ford.
