That, and the fact that Stephen Jones is an idiot.

If SMU creates a tie with The Evil Empire of Valley Ranch they will lose a good portion of their fans.

Why does everybody assume everybody in Dallas worships the Cowboys?

well, I can't say I agree with the recomendation, but I'm pretty sure that Stephen Jones went to SMU for his Law degree... so I guess that's something.

If so, wonder if he is a Mustang Club contributor.

You're probably thinking of Jerry Jr. He was a law student at SMU back in the early 90s.

Just the old ones are - they remember when pro sports took away SMU's fan base. Those of us young enough to grow up in Dallas totally oblivious to SMU support all our pro teams....well.... except FC Dallas. In America, it's "soccer", so until they make it "SC Dallas" they can f-off and burn in hell.

Have a discussion with him on free agency, potential trades and the salary cap and you'll realize who's the idiot.

Uhhhh.... dude, no I'm not.

Stephen Jones was a classmate's of my brother's at SMU Law....

Regardless, I do not agree that Stephen (or Jerry, Jr. for that matter) would be any good for us. Have any of you heard the Jones family say anything ever about SMU? No.

Sometimes when I say "I'm pretty sure"/"I think" .... I do in fact "know"... it's probably because I don't want to put my finger in the middle of a broohaha... But yes, I do "know" that both Jerry, Jr. and Stephen attended SMU Law, and, honestly, I don't care. They went to SMU, but so did a lot of people who - in their future - claim no affiliation to the school. So what does it matter to us? Not a thing!

Keeping up with the "Jonses" will do us no good.

Go Ponies,
Thaddeus
Why does it seem that everyone associated with SMU is anti Cowboys, anti Mavericks, anti Stars, anti Rangers.
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT POINT. As SMU fans, many of us have over the years, blamed the Cowboys,Mavericks,Rangers Etc. for OUR problems. Sure they are competition for the Dallas dollar but we have got to stop the blame game we portray.Potential SMU Fans in Dallas don't like our nonenclusive attitude because they are already Cowboy fans etc. WE ARE THE DIV 1 UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS. We just have to go out and market this fact to people like this "alldallasfan" and make them FEEL WELCOME SUPPORTING SMU. . SMU IS GOING TO BE THE COLLEGE TEAM OF DALLAS IN THE FUTURE ! (If we get an AD who can pull it off)

SMU Football Blog, I agree "we are the problem" but don't you still believe if the perception of SMU Football/Sports changes and our fans really get behind the program, we could again have a respectable program similiar in football to tcu ? For about 20 years in the 60's and 70's tcu had one of the worst football programs in Div. 1. If you go back and check the records, tcu's win over SMU in 1989 was their first win in maybe 20 years . I say SMU will rise again if we don't screw up this AD job because Pres. Turner, Hunt , and Ford are certainly talking like they understand what it will take to turn this around.

To quote one Mike Rhyner...Don't dude me, man. I was just merely stating that Jerry Jr was in law school in the Early 90s which would have been roughly the same time as your brother was in Law School at SMU.

Citing Rhyner (or anyone on the Ticket not named Norm Hitzges or Rich Phillips) as a reference weakens any statement and/or argument.
