6 = fired
7 = depends on losses
8 = happy times return

To get fired, Bennett would have to win only 1 or 2 games. With a new A.D., he will have a shorter rope. Under Copeland, I think he would have survived another 2 win season.
Success for this season would be a bowl game.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read... well, it's close, at least.

There's not an AD alive who would fire Coach Bennett if he breaks .500 next year.
And record predictions at this point are silly, until we know what we have at quarterback.

with both a new ad and a long contract, Coach Bennett has nothing to worry about, except the other teams. SMU cannot afford to buy out a contract as we are a 'poor' non BCS program. We should expect the effort of the players in '06 to match that of last season and with the softer OOC schedule some wins earlier in the season.

Bennett would have to win 4 games or less to be fired, so I take the under 6 option on the proposition. I sure hope we are proven wrong about our prospects this year. This has got to be the deciding year aobut his tenure, for good or for bad.

So with 5 wins, with 2 1-aa's and UNT on the schedule, he is still here? I think not.

Why do you think he has a 'guaranteed' contract? I would bet that nothing past the initial 5 year contract is guaranteed, and SMU has options to make them guaranteed in future years.

Just to clarify, Texas Tech is Div 1 so we are only playing one D1aa. I am sure you were not referring to NTSU or Ark St.
