THIS IS IT

For all of you Bennett lovers, this is the year to put up or shut up.

I want 8 wins or he goes home, period.

[He has 4 1/2 recruiting classes (his first real 'class' is RS-Jr's now)]

We have a 2 year window here to make up for the difficiencies of the last 2 or 3 years.

If we can win this year, and 'display' to the new recruits some improvement, then we may forestall a noticeably downward blip in '08 - '09.

Otherwise, we are gonna crash hard in those years.

You want 8 wins? I want 14 (including the C-USA championship game and the bowl game). In the meantime, how about you change your screen name when we get a winning record?

In the mean time, how about you smoke another bowl....

QB questions still

Jacksonville High School had a QB coach who produced the three passing McCown brothers who played Div 1-A ball at A&M, SMU, and La Tech, and some other lesser known good passers. That coach is gone and so has the outstanding offenses his players produced. The opposite situation has been the black hole for QB's at SMU since Rossley left. We have recruited talented passers and then wasted them. I don't expect Bennet to do any better with QB's this year than he has done thus far at SMU. Hence, we will not win 8 games in 2006 - but we might lose 7 games if we are not careful. Realistically, I look for a 5 or 6 game winning season at best. If that happens, does Bennett stay?

Aint nothing wrong with wanting it, jt. Expecting it is a different story.

...heh, heh...and that SMU QB came to Sam Houston State and lead the Bearkats to post-season play! Josh McCown...yeah, I know some of ya'll hate him because you think he 'abandoned' the Mustangs.

I have no hate for him. It is my understanding that he was run off.

Hate is such a strong word.

But I agree with the original post. I think there is no doubt we should expect/want 8 wins this upcoming season. I'll be VERY mad if we're not atleast 3-1 heading into conference play
