Todd Dodge Interviewed With Cowboys

Postby Stallion » Fri Feb 17, 2006 11:10 am

...according to the DMN. As soon as his son graduates I really do feel someone is going to grab this guy as a Division 1A Head Coach immediately or if he'd rather go with a large program as a BCS Offensive Coordinator. I know the comparisons to Gerry Faust but he coached at a private high school that recruited players. Dodge does have some(NTSU) Division 1A experience as an assistant and of course as a player at UT. I wasn't convinced 4 years ago-I am after 56-1 with the only loss by 1 point in the state champship on a last minute missed FG.

Hasn't this been posted already? I thought we've always known he's not going ANYWHERE until his kid graduates.. ?

Thanks for the update though..

He has said it to at least two unrelated people that I know. I am certainly re-stating it second hand, but unless it is the proverbial offer that can not be refused, expect Dodge to stay through Riley's senior season (two years).

Keep a close eye on Gus Malzahn at Arkansas. He just moved from HC in high school to OC in the SEC.

Gus also offered the nations top QB (or 2nd best depends who you ask), two top flight Wide Receivers and a Tight End. All four have made comments that Arkansas became the choice once Gus was named as coach

Malzahn will probably do fine. He brought his team with him to Arkansas so the system is not being changed for the players, just for the school. It will be a little different for Casey [deleted] to compete with Mustain since Mustain has run the offense under the OC for 3 years. It will be interesting to watch the program at Arkansas and see how it does.

When he was hired there was a pretty good chance UA was only going to end up with one of those players. I don't know if you're saying he wasn't hired on his merits, because he was.

His team just finished in the Top 3 nationally, and he's written books and taught clinics on his offense.

That said, its an enormous jump from HS to the SEC. That's why I'm saying keep an eye on his situation. If he's succesful, it could open a lot of doors for HS coaches.
