poor b@[email protected] to go 2 whole days without an easy - but true - shot at smu to get the sunshiners upset.....
Man I was I bored without the board.... ![]() I can hear the sunshiners already..... ![]()
Stallion, you are better than that. That is really more of a Ponysnob or Billy Joe comment. And as I am sure you know, the answer to your question is "No."
There is no purpose in a comment like that other than to anger folks. No solution is offered, no different perspective suggested .... that serves no purpose other than to make loyal fans lose optimism. This site has always been pleasantly objective -- some objective criticism is not just welcome, but required by fans who truly care. This kind of comment can have no positive effect, and serves no purpose other than to pour salt in a wound. Nice "fan."
And what purpose does constant negativism serve? Encouraging players? Encouraging coaches? Inspiring fans to give to the Mustang Club in an effort to better the fortunes of the athletic department and the athletes and coaches? No, no and no. Maybe it does serve a purpose, and can help make things better. I'm happy to give you the benefit of the doubt - enlighten me.
Its called encouraging the changes that have to be made in the program in order to allow SMU to compete with its natural and traditional rivals. I'm really surprised that any one would be surprised with this information since I've been telling you the same thing for the last 10 years. There are a lot of people on this board with a vested interest that don't want you-the SMU fan - know just what a poor job they have done at SMU. Are you afraid of the truth?
Yes, going on a pony fan site and crapping all over the Mustangs every chance you get with backhanded complements and snide cheap shot really encourages the changes being made on order to compete with our rivals. God what an inspirational source of knowledge! Whatever brightens your day I guess (while raining on everyone elses). ---------------

Mr. Stallion NEVER has a solution. He just comes on the board and beats the same drum. What has Stallion done to improve the things he complains about??? Anyone?
Well...he stopped contributing to the Mustang Club. That really got the administration's attention. They immediately started trying to find a way to change the Pye Model...but alas they didn't have enough money to do much.

You know PK, I think if more people would confront and challenge our leaders (in the proper forum, of course) rather than merely go along for the ride, I think we all would be a lot happier with the end product. I also believe money is not the main culprit for our failure.
I personally love college BB, especially March Madness...you realize its been almost 20 years since we went dancing? And during that time, not only have we not gone to the NCAA tourney, we haven't even come close. Furthermore, with the players on this team, it is doubtful we will go anytime soon. So I think Stallion has a right not to support the MC, if that is his way to protest. And I also think his post about SMU being the only team in D1-A without an NFL player is not telling the full story. LT in one drive has contributed more to the NFL than the sum of all SMU players over the past 20 years.
No doubt, but harping on a fan forum rather than on the admin's front door isn't going to get much done in the way of change. Perhaps organizing an effort would, but just [deleted] day in and day out on PF.com isn't going to get it done. It may not be the main culprit, but it has a definite affect...such as modernizing Moody...hiring top coaches with D1 head coaching experience. Do you think TCU would have gotten to where they are if they had the same low level of financial support from their alums we have? See my answers above. Your are absolutely correct...Stallion can do any damn thing he wants...it's his right, but he is only kidding himself if he thinks he is accomplishing anything to get things changed by what he is doing. I think SMU Football Blog's post concerning grduation rates on the recruiting board makes a very good point. You, on the other hand, miss the point. Lack of NFL players does not guarantee failure...it is the failure that guarantees no NFL players and thanks to Stallion...we all know the reason for the failure...ad nausea. Without a unified concerted effort by alumni to rattle the cages of the administration in regards to SMU athletics, not much is going to happen. The Mustang Club brings in a fair amount of cash and with the right leadership that can be leveraged to apply pressure. However, if you aren't willing to get involved and work through the system, then you are but a voice crying in the wilderness...and that pretty well describes Stallion. Besides, Stallion is more interested in stroking his ego than solving any problem...he has to be the first to tell you this or be the most knowlegeable about recruiting or take the superior intellect pose by calling everyone else naive or plain stupid. Unfortunately he is not a leader...what a shame.
Then take that "encouragement" to Copeland (now Koerner) or to President Turner. covok48 is right -- stomping on the most enthusiastic SMU fans won't change a thing. Go to the people who make the decisions if you want to see different decisions made. [deleted] and moaning here annoys the most loyal of fans and smacks of childishness.
