Are there any football fans on this board?

Postby DrewDawg265 » Tue Mar 14, 2006 11:02 am

What is going on with spring practices? I am used to football message board dialogue on the daily during spring drills. SMU is supposed to surprise this year. So what are some of the reasons they have a shot of making it to a bowl game? What are some of the question marks? What players are looking good in drills? Who is oing to win the QB battle based on what you have seen from spring?

Many of the questions (quarterback, linebacker, etc.) have been addressed on the board already (those clearly are the top two).

Last practice notes can be found here:

And yes, I'm a HUGE football fan -- can't wait for practice to start up again.

How many practices have taken place?
I have a feeling SMU can surprise this year. They are one of my sleepers for the season and I will be following them througout the year because of that. 9 wins. I think the QB position is going to be the difference between 6 wins or 9 wins. What are your overall views on the guys competing for that job? Anyone that has a shot at taking you to the next level?

Way too early to say. What have they had, three practices? Four? Besides, Coach Bennett is the type who believes firmly in competition. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't name a starting QB until the week of the first game.

But you're right -- QB play will be vital to the offense this season.
