SMU forms committee to find AD
11:11 PM CST on Thursday, February 9, 2006
By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News
UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU officials announced Thursday that the search committee formed to hire a new athletic director will have 15 members, including prominent boosters Gerald Ford and David Miller and trustee Bobby Leach.
Two former athletes, Trent Redden and Jamey Harper, also are on the committee.
The Plano-based search firm of Eastman and Beaudine was hired to help the committee find prospective candidates.
Tom Barry, vice president for executive affairs, is the chairman of the committee.
Thursday's meeting involved a discussion on diversity.
Barry said school president Gerald Turner said he would like a new athletic director hired by June 1.
Jim Copeland, the current AD, is retiring May 31.

If you think about it, Karl Rove would make one hell of an AD.

I know if I was a faculty member I wouldn't want to get in his way; I might suddenly find out that I had been secretly spying on his office without my knowledge.

I see 6 names. Who are the other nine members that will make up the 15?

It is if he works for RBC Dain Rauscher. The only Leach listed on the SMU list of Board of Trustees members is:

Robert A. Leach
