I hope the SMU community really embraces this guy. My UCF friends seem genuinely depressed about losing him.

not sure our opinions matter as much as the CUSA board and all the people from UCF and the CUSA East that seem to think this guy is the real deal. Nobody can figure out how we snagged this guy.

I think someone dared him to lick the flagpole, and his tongue got stuck so he has to stay.

A week ago, I doubt too many people were expecting a sitting I-A AD to get the job. the people at the UCF message board are apoplectic. UCF was trying to extend his contract. We got Orsini because SMU stepped up to the plate and offered more money than our in conference mate was.

You have to be excited.

yep, it appears that someone who counts is finally tired of jacking around. It must be a home run if the various characters on this board can largely agree on it.

That person's name starts with an "F" and rhymes with "cord." And I guess, Turner, too. The impression I have is that the meeting today was pretty much, "The guy is in town today, show up tomorrow and ask him questions and then vote for him. But hurry up, because he has to meet with the coaches afterward."

If that is the case, that Turner and whoever (I'm guessing Ford) are calling the shots with the Board, and they are just rubber stamping anything they do, then why haven't they fixed whatever problems we have with the faculty senate, admissions requirements, etc.?

A lot of the UCFers seem genuinely depressed. People there are only hoping their president has something up his sleeve to continue bringing that program to the next level. They attribute a lot of their recent successes, rightfully in my opinion, to Orsini.

Too bad we have to wait until May to get him on board.

Do we have to? Copeland is still out recovering from kidney surgery I would presume, why couldn't we ask him to step in now?

Not sure. The Orlando Sentinel already is referring to him as "former Central Florida AD," but I hear he's not expected to arrive right away.
