about scheduling games if the expected end of Red River Rivalry comes to pass according to an article in the Austin American Statesman. San Diego St, UTEP, New Mexico St, Central Florida and TCU also mentioned and the article specifically said some games could be AWAY games. I'm sure a game with SMU would be moved to the new Cowboys Stadium, Texas Stadium or the Cotton Bowl but definitely not Ford.

That'd be unfortunate because I'd love to see a Texas/SMU game at Ford. it's a nice stadium and there's really not a bad seat in the house.
However, I'd love to see this rivalry renewed.

Yeah, but it won't happen [at Ford]. Ford simply can't contain the amount of fans that Texas will bring to that game - or their inflated egos. Oooooh, snap.
But admitedly, I'd love to see it. The grass/picninc-type area completeley filled. Temporary bleachers behind the south endzone, standing room only everywhere, and SMU winng 27-26.

I'd play out of Ford, but not one of my 5-6 home games on an 11-12 game schedule
Maybe UTex can play their 6 at home, 1 home game in dallas and 5 on the road (as BCS teams generally get 7 home games in 12).
I pass on playing UT

In the days of the SWC, our hated rivalry with UT made it THE game of the year for many of us. But no more. We would get slaughtered and would gain little except financially (and maybe not there either given the hard bargain that Austin would make with us). When and if we ever become a better team, I might like to play the national champions - but not now.

I don't want to play three games like that as Rice is in 2006, but one is fine.

Play them at Ford and charge a hundred bucks a ticket. Douple the price for half the capacity.

More like quadruple the price. SMU game ticket prices are beans compared to UT game ticket prices.

that article was very interesting and sends a mixed message: Texas will drop OU at the Cotton Bowl but pick up a neutral site with Arkansas at Jerry World?...so much for the whole 'we're going home and home with OU because it makes financial sense' arguement. It's now, we're going home and home with OU but bringing a neutral site game to Dallas. So screw you 80 years of tradition, screw Dallas, screw you OU, and screw you SMU......DeLo$$ at hi$ Be$t....

It is my understanding that Darrel Royal has no desire to ever see this rivalry resume. I don't know why, but that is what I have heard so don't hold your breath!
SMU needs the series again...

The series could give SMU a chance to bring in some more fans. Even 1 victory in a 3 game series would bring serious credibility to the SMU program, we could use a rivalry like this and given the chance I bet you are players, fans, and coaches step up the plate and take on the challenge.

Let's see if we can beat Texas Tech or even Baylor before we start thinking we could beat UT once in a 3 game series. Did you not see the A$M game last year? Was our last win against a team in a BCS conference, the Kansas game to open Ford?

It will be Arkansas and UT home and home 2008/2009 and then IF the UT/OU in Dallas ends it will be UT/Arkansas in Dallas.
