Conference Record

Sat., Sep. 30 Tulane New Orleans, La. CSTV 8:00 PM
Sat., Oct. 7 UTEP El Paso, Texas 8:05 PM
Sat., Oct. 14 Marshall Dallas, Texas 2:00 PM
Sat., Oct. 21 East Carolina Greenville, N.C. 2:00 PM
Tue., Oct. 31 UAB Dallas, Texas ESPN2 6:30 PM
Sat., Nov. 11 Houston Dallas, Texas 2:00 PM
Sat., Nov. 18 Tulsa Dallas, Texas 2:00 PM
Sat., Nov. 25 Rice Houston, Texas 2:00 PM

As I have posted elsewhere, I am predicting a 3-5 or 4-4 Conference record. At this point, I only have Rice down as a probable victory. With the new coaching staff implementing new schemes, they do not have the personnel to seriously compete this season.

Last year, I guess I overestimated the overall talent level in CUSA. Thus, I think it will be likely we will again pick up two or three close victories in conference. Tulsa will not be as good as the past few years, with the loss of Mill and other key contributors. It would also be important to beat Houston, as they are another key in-state recruiting competitor. UTEP lost their star linebacker, but so did we. Without TCU on the schedule, Rice/Houston rivalry games take on a new significance.

We should beat ECU and Marshall this year. We should beat Rice. I think the rest are toss ups which if we split them makes us 5-3. If we go 2-2 in OOC we're probably going bowling. If we go 3-1, then we are looking at 8-4 on the year which definitely gets us into a bowl.

3-1 NC, 4-4 CUSA

I look for a 7-5 season with a 3-1 NC and 4-4 CUSA recrod. Anything less than this will be disgraceful. Turning a program around is a gradual process at SMU.

I would accept 6-6 or 5-7. A 2-2 non-conference record and 2-6 conference record (a possibility) would get me pretty fired up for changes with the Bill Snyder schedule.

Agreed.

Let me get this straight.....we've had one winning season in twenty years at SMU and this year will be disgraceful if we don't finish at least 7-5? Did I fall asleep and miss a couple of national top 50 recruiting classes?

I'm as optimistic as the next guy, but come on. We have a starting QB who has zero college football game experience and very little depth on the line. Not saying 7-5 won't happen, but tap on the brakes with the disgraceful talk.

I completely agree. I just don't want a train wreck--like a loss to more than one Sun Belt team.

What did you vote MM1965? What conference losses do you foresee?

Conference, hell. We should concentrate all of our efforts to beat that d-2 team we play. That is the only must win of the season.

My opinion doesn't mean squat on this forum. I'll be at the games, though.

Someone give me odds on the 6-2 conference record. Or point me to a web site that I can throw down some money on. :D
