Some Respect on the CUSA Boards

In a thread over there where you pick your sleeper team for 2006 (can't pick your own school) SMU is getting a lot of mentions. Good to see that non fans think we might be good this year.

I think this team earned a measure of respect going 4-4 in CUSA last year. Beating the teams we did was encouraging. As Bennett enters his 5th year with a roster that is getting very close to being his own recruits, it's definitely time to improve on that 11-35 record. With the softer schedule in 2006, it's time to put up at least a .500 record and improve on that year after year until this program is of post season caliber again. While I hope our young guys surprise us all and we win 7-8 games this year, one look at the roster tells me we may still be a year or two away. We won't sneak up on anyone this year.

Wouldn't all of the current roster be his recruits?

We need to be "there" this year and, at the very least be bowl eligible. We will be graduating talent as fast as we are filling it in from this season on. So... we need a good season to keep the recruiting going.
