Ran into Slater today. A few notes:

• He clearly has been in the weight room. A lot. Compared to the way he looked when I met him in January, he looks like a new man. His arms look much stronger, and he clearly has reshaped his whole frame. How that translates to the field, of course, remains to be seen.
• He said nearly 80 guys have been out regularly for the team's offseason workouts, and the enthusiasm and work ethic have been excellent. He said "it was nothing like this at Dixie."
• He said Ryan Kennedy is doing some light running, and that he (Slater) started throwing with Kennedy yesterday. He said he is amazed by Kennedy's hands, that "he catches anything you get near him. You can throw it as hard as you want, and he has these huge hands, really soft hands. That guy catches everything."

Thanks for the update, Pride. Sounds like Slater has really put in some work since he got here. I don't know enough about the QBs to say he should or shouldn't start ahead of Willis, but if Willis is the starter, I like the fact that Slater is going to bust his tail to be the best backup possible.

Nutty -- talking about actually SMU players instead of whining about things you can't control. Novel idea!

I agree. More info on the interactions with the Ponies would be very welcome, especially those of us who don't have the option of being on campus very much. Keep it up, everyone.

Good to hear the team seems to be off to a good start on the offseason program.
Keep it up!

Corey sounds like he's as excited for the start of the season as I am!
