The seventh-ranked Patriots (8-1, 5-1) held the Totems (3-6, 1-5) to 153 total yards while piling up 554.
Liberty has lost only to top-ranked Bellevue, 47-30 on Oct. 8, but won't get a chance to play for a state championship
because KingCo 3A sends only one team to the playoffs.
Craigh Cornelius caught touchdown passes of 7, 10 and 11 yards from Corey Slater and scored on a 1-yard run for Liberty.
Jeff Hanna (10 carries, 141 yards) and Dean Anderson (20 carries, 126 yards) combined for 267 yards on the ground for the Patriots.
Sammamish's only score came on Lyndon still's 97-yard kickoff return in the first quarter, which cut Liberty's lead to 13-7.

Fact: They wouldn’t have made state anyway because Issaquah beat them in last game of year, But kingco did only send one team to state

In search of another challenge, the most dominate football program in the state found one. Now Long Beach Poly--the program that has put more players in the NFL than any other -- can attest to the might of Bellevue football.
The Wolverines executed the wing-T to near perfection Friday night at Qwest Field, posting a 30-16 victory against the Jackrabbits, the No. 3 team in the country.
Nothing came easy for Bellevue, a program that has won has won 53 of its last 55 games.
``Our kids played well. We were able to make some plays,'' Bellevue coach Butch Goncharoff said. ``Credit goes to Poly. They had a great game plan. They ran a defense we'd never seen on their films. It was an odd slanting front, and we were able to adjust.''
Save for a few long runs by Anthony McQueen, Bellevue's assault on the speedy Jackrabbits' defense was methodical and unrelenting.

Liberty quarterback Corey Slater also capped a stellar career last week.
Slater, a three-year starter, finished with 5,035 yards, good for fourth on
the all-time KingCo list, and 49 touchdowns.


Fact: Corey was a 4 year starter, He started the First 2 games as a Freshman
For Liberty High School because Senior Mkristo Bruce (Washington state DE #94) was in
Trouble for a hazing incident from a summer camp. To letter in high school you have to
Have played in 9 quarters, but Corey only played in 8, so if his high school coaches would
Have put him on for just one more play in any game of the year he would have been a
4 year letterman.



Ok I had better stop before I get into trouble.

....and with all those accomplishments why didn't he get a Division 1A offer out of high school. He certainly wasn't overlooked. Scouts looked at him and didn't like the fact he measured about 6-0 and ran a 4.9 or higher.

Lay off, guys. How many times have any of us seen him run or throw?
Arm looked OK in the Red/Blue game. Give the guy a chance.

Corey didn't get a Division 1A offer right out of high school because,
1. When the team went to Washington state university football camp the offense cordinator told Corey and His coach that he was a better QB then Acron Hall but they had already offered it. Unoffically they admitted they screwed up. 2. Corey went to University of Washington 7on7 passing camp, Liberty took 3rd place. But after the tournment Rick Neuhausel singled Corey out for a outstanding job. Then next day Rick Neuhausel got fired. Did this hurt probably so. 3. Corey went to Eugene oregon for a nike football camp, I told him to rest up but like all kids did he listen, no. He stayed up late with friends and we got up early drove 4 hours to the camp and I believe he ran a 4.79 in the 40. Yes he is faster then that but was tired, but he wouldn't admit it. PR you have to sell yourself and Corey wanted his stats to speak for him, that was probably a mistake also.
And in high school Corey was 6'0" 185 did this hurt, probably so, but he is now a ligit 6'2" 220

Most revealing is the bottom part.

Montana - High Interest - No Offer
Boise State - Med Interest - No Offer
Idaho - Med Interest - No Offer

He apparently visited 2 schools, Idaho St and Eastern Washington, and neither of those schools offered either.

So this talk about Neuhausel doesn't explain why these other schools above (many unfortunately our peers) did not offer as well.

I lived for six months in Bellevue before I moved to Kirkland. It rains a lot in both of those places.

Why the need to beat up our recruits?

I've never seen this Slater kid play, but I will say that jtstang's assessment is correct.

Come on guys, the kid is on the team, if he doesn't improve either 1) he doesn't want to or 2) our coaching staff failed. I get the impression this kid wants to do well.

Eastern Washington offered and he turned them down, he wanted to play Division 1 football not 2. You have to be careful who you play for because if you don't like it you may find yourself sitting out a year just to change schools. That is why he went to Dixie community college in Utah for better exposure. Montana was very interested in him and sent him all kinds of letters and asked him to call them, but he didn't. He had his heart on playing for the Cougars and then the Huskies. If Corey was born in Texas instead of Washington state he probably would have had many more offers, you get better exposure down south. As for his pea body arm, you take a football from the 50 and throw it threw the goal post.

Don't worry, it'll stop for three months starting in July.

6-1, 190 pound QBs who run 4.9 are a dime a dozen in Texas -I seriously doubt he would have gotten a Division 1A scholarship in Texas. We simply have much better athletes.Guys who are 6-3 and above and can run. Just remember the Dallas side of the DFW Metroplex alone probably had 3 times more Division 1A signess than the entire state of Washington. He certainly would not have been a Top 15 QB in Texas.
