Jealousy is so ugly. Come on, SMU,get good before this guy dies so he can see a story about you.

jstang,
Pull your diapers out of your mouth!

Even when we were good in the early 80's the SNEWS coverage was minimal.

you're exactly right Ponymon -

Jealousy. Pure and simple.
Bottom line: UT must sell papers, or they wouldn't cover them. SMU doesn't, because there is no interest. We can't even fill our smaller-than-average stadium with SMU fans. Get used to it, because it's never gonna change.

That is the whole point. The DMN prints what it needs to print to sell papers. If SMU does something worthy of reporting it will get coverage. Maybe not front page but they will get coverage. A coworker of mine was in Dallas this past weekend. Because he has heard me talk about Ford Stadium, he went by to see it. He was impressed, but remarked,"where were the players that should be doing voluntary workouts this time of year?" I guess the DMN could be reporting on that, but I suppose they figured a story about a National Championship by a team that has hundreds of thousands of followers in the subscrption area might be better.

The near life-sized photo of good ol' DeLoss is suitable for wallpaper. To the guy who was all excited about the "big" picture of Dickerson and James a few days ago, as I warned, your 'Stockholm Syndrome' glee was premature.

Hey, at least I'll acknowledge they're coming over the hill. The sunshiners on this board would convince themselves they were reinforcements.
Be a realist.

Thanks, dad, I'll do it when I want to see an SMU fan with a grasp on reality.

This is the quote from the story that jumped out at me. I wonder if SMU will ever figure this out.
This is from UT president Bill Cunningham [1985-1992]. " Athlectics is a vehicle for bringing people around the university. That is why it is important to win in football and basketball. They bring revenue and interest. That is the bottom line."

I think we should drop athletics and just have a non-competitive play day where everyone gets together and holds hands, sings songs and dances-noncompetitively of course.

I think they already tried that.. "Hands Across America" was a great success right?
As I've always said.. as much as I pull for SMU with my heart.. I pull for UT with my brain. And yes.. UT does sell papers.. SMU doesn't.. it's just the facts man.
