On the defensive side, nominees included sophomore safety Lee Johnson, Louisiana Tech; sophomore safety Keone Kauo, Nevada; freshman defensive end Don Ieremia-Stansbury, SMU; etc.........
Other offensive nominees included sophomore quarterback Timmy Chang, Hawai‘i; senior running back Joe Smith, Louisiana Tech; freshman running back Matt Milton, Nevada; junior running back Keylon Kincade, SMU; etc..
