Coaching decisions during the games

Postby OR-See-Nee » Tue Aug 01, 2006 9:37 pm

Last year, there seemed to be a lot of comments about poor coaching decisions during the games. Bennett has said that he made a mistake with Martin not playing him in the Baylor game (good to see Bennett taking responsibility). What are your thoughts for this year? Do you believe that coaching decisions during the games will be better this year?

We'll see won't we. Bennett to his credit tends to take the blame for losses to shield his players from criticism. That said, he has made some bad decisions, but without the talent to overcome coaching mistakes they tend to be more glaring. I think on the whole, he is not the best or worst coach in the NCAA's today. I think he is growing into the job.

He may have taken the blame for not playing Martin but if you read the response he stated that Martin had fumbled several times in practice and he (Bennett) had asked the RB Coach if he (the RB Coach) was willing to stake his job on playing him. Sounds like the RB Coach made the call.

Don't think that decision will be a problem in the future. :)
