The lonely position of neutral

I'm currently enrolled and will start working on my MBA at Cox, I graduated with a BBA in finance from UNT (I guess its referred to as NTSU on this board).

I lived on campus there for several years so come game time I'm gonna have to root for the green, but I'm not sure I understand all the hatred and jokes about them, and vice versa. As far as I've been aware of no students or professors at either university have had bad things to say unlike the internet message boards. I certainly don't understand their posts calling for social warfare or the posts on here dogging them about being illieirate

I'm all about friendly trash talk, but it seems to me like both message boards are making their schools look ignorant.

I have to agree with you. I have liked every UNT person I have met. I don't know the entire history of UNT-SMU but what I have seen over the past couple of years is comical. We kept you out of CUSA and you work for us kind of crap. I look forward to this series as it is another close game for us and god knows we both need to get our game attendance up.

Doesn't look like you are neutral to me. But good luck.

I'll say it since no one else will.. North Texas State is a remedial school that has a complex about SMU in every way. They're upset that they're not in a better conference for their sports, a degree at North Texas State isn't something people necessarily want.. as much as it is something they have to take because of a lack of grades/test scores in H.S., and they (North Texas State) just they want a rival so bad against SMU or any school that is looked-at as being better than them. That being said.. SMU has been low-hanging fruit for the past 20 years and North Texas State is still looked down upon.. even though they had a great few years of winning the Sun Belt.

SO.. to sum it up.. They (North Texas State) want a rival in SMU.. and we (SMU) don't think they're in our same league.

Now.. I'm personally looking forward to SMU running all over North Texas State in Denton this year. But had it been a few years ago.. I think it might have been a different story.

So there you go.. that's my take anyway.

All that being said.. I think it's a great idea to have the 3 local teams (SMU, North Texas State and TCU) play each other each year and have a Metroplex Cup or something.
