Gotta do something about this

CBS Sportsline has us listed at #114 this week in it's list of the 117 I-A football programs. They now rate us the worst team in the WAC and ahead of only Buffalo, Rutgers & Army on that list. Do we need to win our next 3 games, or what? I'd like to think we have a shot at winning 2 or these last 3 games. I haven't seen ESPN's "bottom 10" listing, but I'm sure we will be back on that list as well. It's way past time to do something about this kind of attention!

Rather interesting how we won a game, dropped off the Bottom 10 list and to 110 on Sportsline. We're back at #7 on B10 and back to 114 on SL. Ugh...

Relax, we're beating Nevada this weekend. That'll take care of those lists.

It's all about the play calling. I think our guys are playing their best football right now. LA Tech played a great game against them. If we are agressive and can get the run going and Bartel has another good day, we will win. That's not too much to ask for anymore, thank god

Feels good to have a QB~!

A few play-action passes on first down in the first half will make the Nevada defense play honest, instead of lining up for a team picture at the line of scrimmage to stop Kincade. If we can keep the safeties back off the line, we'll win.
Fearless prediction:
SMU 27
Nevada 17

Yes, we would all like to see something done. However, it is going to take some time to correct our situation. Only now is the coaching staff is being given a chance to recruit on levels of our opponents. After the DP, the school set standards that would not allow us to recruit against other schools. This is fifteen years of setting the program backwards. To think that in a year or two it will all change is totally unreasonable given the whole situation.
I predicted that we would have trouble with our WAC cohorts. Yes we have "The Commitment," but so do nevada, boise st., and fresno st. I live in the Sacramento area, and I work in LA. Try driving 400 miles through CA and see nothing but support for fresno st. Yes, it is not the glorious city such as Dallas, but they do have a commitment, that makes ours pale in comparison. I've seen some of my area's top players (and some surprises) go to nevada, fresno, and boise st. (Not to mention players like Seneca Wallace and Onterrio Smith going to big programs.)
Coach Bennett has had a rough start, but I feel given all that there has been to work with, he's done a decent job. He seems to know that mistakes have occured because of coaching and play making (or lack thereof). His recruiting has shown promise, and hopefully, as some posters have claimed, the current players like toiling under Bennett. We cannot honestly expect the boys to just suddenly become great. They seem to play with a lot of heart. Instead of all of us moaning, we have to remain committed. If we can stay the course, we will have a good future. But we have to step it up. Support Bennett, the kids , and SMU!!
GO PONIES!!
