Players to Watch Next Year

This are questions for fans who have been able to watch a lot of practice and for those who have been to most of the games.
1. Which of the freshmen is most likely to
make a contribution next year? I've heard the RB, Barnett, mentioned, but are there others?
2. Who are the special team players most likely to be regulars next year?

haven't heard anything about T.J. James this year. I expected he might break into the two deep among the defensive secondary. I thought Travis Hunt was another one who might see some playing time. Anybody know how these guys are doing?

All I know about T.J. James is one practice I saw in spring ball, when he was repeatedly torched by Cunningham.
Haven't seen either of them this fall.
But Hunt has to be good - isn't he the one who's related to Jabar Gaffney and Lito Shepherd?

Neither of them are fantastic players. I'll just say the coaches were shocked with Hunt's lack of talent, especially with the genes he has in his family. TJ tries, he just lacks speed and size, still. Harper can get better, he just needs more size and conditioning. We need faster safeties, plain and simple (ahem, with talent of course).

06 I wonder where you get your info from, James is in the same caliber as Griffin who I believe was a state 100m track champion. As for size, what are you looking for and at which position is he going to line up at ?
6 foot - 190 for a DB is not bad eh...

He was recruited for his speed and hitting ability as a DB. He is being listed at safety but works out at corner.

TJ cannot play D1 ball. He may have done very well for himself in TAPPS, but it's not D1 college football. He just doesn't have the mental focus or talent to do be successful at this point in his career. At least not at the DB position. He may be fast but lacks the skills to contribute to the team. Some of you on here try to make SO much out of below par players on the team. Some have bad attitudes and some have no talent. I'm getting really sick of it. We need more talent and players that want to work hard to be starters, and Bennett and his staff will bring in plenty of it.

Bennett can give him a shot, but we have better players on the depth chart right now. If you're going to start looking for hidden talent on the team, start attending practices first. Let the kids showcase their skills and then post on here.

Yeah! or at least take some hallucinogenic chemicals first. Then maybe you too can see field goal attempts that never actually happened.

Well said PPP, I am sure that Bennett with his staff and the players will get this thing sorted out. For now we just need to get behind the team.

No comments either way. A month ago I made a change in my personal policy regarding the message boards. No public comment on the football team, regarding anything. Its not my business anymore.
And I have never bashed people. Never singled out individuals in public with unsubstantiated criticism.
If I were Townsend Hargis, I'd be hunting you down with a baseball bat.

Agreed about bashing...and PX, that was a joke...I know you've never done any of it. As for me, yeah I've been frustrated and I'm new to these boards. I should keep some things to myself and try to be more postive. As for Hargis, forget about it. I was thinking of someone else to tell you the truth. Shows my knowledge, eh? I don't know what I'm thinking sometimes. I'm smarter than I act on these boards, I just need to show it. Ok, I'm done. Go Mustangs!
