Word out of Huntsville is that Texas Tech WR Catron Houston has transferred to Sam Houston State University and will be on the team this year. Houston played high school ball at Spring Woods High in Houston. A junior this year, he's listed at 5'11, 183. Guess he wanted to play against the Mustangs one way or another!

He can catch passes from Tech transfer QB Phillip Daughtery.

Yep. Although there's a chance that former OU QB Rhett Bomar will be the man under center on Sept. 16 against SMU.

Not a very good chance. Regardless of where he ends up, he still will have to appeal to the NCAA for reinstatement. I can't see the NCAA moving that fast to make him eligible, and even if they do, he can't start practicing with a new team until after that process is over. I'll never say 'never,' but I find that scenario highly unlikely.

Maybe he could drive the team bus to Dallas, though. I hear he's really well connected when it comes to vehicles.

Won't happen. NCAA should suspend him for one season, strip him a year of eligibility at least. If they don't, then Mr. Bomar has incriminating pictures of the enforcement officer.

Bomar has been attending SHSU practices for the past few days, as reported by the Houston area media. Frankly, I don't want him at my alma mater.

Could be good news for the Mustangs in Lubbock; could be bad news for the Mustangs when the 'Kats visit Dallas. ;)

from the Houston Chronicle:

Sophomore flanker Catron Houston has been kicked off the Texas Tech football team, head coach Mike Leach said, leaving the Red Raiders without the top backup to all-Big 12 Conference receiver Joel Filani.

"Basically, he's cut for violation of team rules,'' Leach said. "Catron's not coming back. He's definitely not.''

Houston went to high school at Houston Spring Woods and played in nine games for Tech last season as a true freshman. He caught three passes for 55 yards, including a 44-yard reception to the 1-yard line against Sam Houston State.
