2 weeks to football

Postby ThadFilms » Sat Aug 19, 2006 6:32 pm

I would have posted this a half hour earlier, but I was chilling at Barton Springs today. Just got back.

2 weeks.

Why am I dying for Sept. 2 to get here? Any rational person would pick TT to win that game. Then again... any rational person would have picke TCU to beat SMU last year, coming off their upset of Oklahoma - and us coming off the unfortunate result against Baylor. That's why they play the game! Man, I really want a win against Tech, but of course, the more I believe we can win, the more I feel I am setting myself up for dissapointment. I've been a SMU fan for too long, I know I should temper my excitement. But I can't. Besides, where's the fun in that?

Anyhow... Go Mustangs.... Beat the hell out of Tech!

It's only two weeks now, and still Sept. 2 can't get here soon enough.

SMU has a chance to knock Tech off, mostly due to the fact that Graham Harrell will be in his first action as a starter, not just in mop up duty.

If ya'll can hit him a few times, get a turnover or two early, you could really hurt his confidence.

Good luck!

That is probably what they plan to do to our QB too...SOP for new QB's.

yes getting to harrell early will be key.. he is a hot head.. thinks he is god's gift to the world. and leach will definately pull him since he is young if he is not producing.. If harrell doesn't put points on the board early expect to see both qb's put in by leach and that means we have a chance..

I sincerely believe we do.. if we control the clock w/ our running game we can win..

Like you Thad, I always set myself up for major dissappointment.. I will be in albuqurque at my cousins wedding but I will have my phone on and will expect updates from my friends

Good Luck with that strategy. Harrell has proven he can compete at a very high level in Division 1A.

If we can't have a good passing game, Tech will stack the box and Demyron will have another game like he did against A$M last year.....ouch!!!!

Graham was so spooked by Division 1A football last year that he was 37 for 55 for a 68% passing completion percentage and threw for 422 yards 3TDs and no interceptions. 149 Passing Rating all as a Freshman. He's playing at home with perhaps the best and deepest WR corp in the country. Both WRs are First Team Preseason All-Big 12. Graham is one of the Top 5 QBs in United States High School History in just about every statistical category-he'll be just fine.

Just looking for clarification on your stats.

A story in today's Lubbock Avalanche-Journal lists the following stats for Harrell: (Harrell got) into five games last season, completing 36 of 51 passes for 392 yards and three touchdowns.

What do the stats look like for any of the QB's on our roster for last year in D1 football games?

I think that the difference in the stats is because I used the statistics from the Texas Tech official site which included the Cotton Bowl and other report did not. I saw that too but mine are the official Texas Tech stats.

Sorry, but I can't resist. Graham Harrell? Ennis HS QB Legend. Tate Wallis? Ennis HS QB Legend.

Coincidence?

Hippie Hollow has changed over the years. It is now a place for people fo the same sex to have fun - not that there is anything wrong with that.
