...that our QB(s) won't throw 6 picks vs. Texas Tech. C'mon. Reassure me. Please?
I know someone said PB "doesn't show much" during scrimmages, but I must say from my vantage point in Ford that our offense "didn't show much" last year vs. Baylor in the first game.
For our running game to take full effect, Tech has to respect the pass. If our QBs are as lacking as some of the early reviews, Tech just needs to put 8 in the box and stuff the run; they've got the athletes to go man to man vs. our receivers in this situation.
Alarming that even SMUMustangs.com called the qb play "up and down..." you know that includes some positive spin.

My assessment:
Offensive line will be solid.
Our depth at running back IS as good as we think it is.
Quarterbacks dissappointed. Missed some easy passes, didn't throw downfield too much.
Very impressed with speed in the secondary.
Surprised that Lowery has won a starting corner job already. He is very fast, toyed with receivers a few times trying to bait the long throw.
McCann, frosh, made a couple of nice plays on the ball. Interception was more of a poor throw, but very nice breakup in the endzone on a fade.
Defensive line looks great, of course.
Carrington is a beast. He is primed to be huge this year.
Main thing for me was Morestead. He is incredible. He is a man above boys. The 47 yards he made would have been good from 55 or 60. And his punts, geez, those aren't line drive 60 yards he hits. They have air, get way up, and go way back. Pretty amazing.
Cunningham struggled the first two kicks of warmups, then adjusted his runup and started hitting them much better. He looks solid, and was decent on kickoffs. I am guessing, however, that Mroestead will handle kickoffs. He didn't practice them, but I am guessing with his strenght they would go deep into the endzone every time. The only reason Bennett might have Cunningham kick off is to save Morestead's leg.
Also, Galloway was a good punter. In short, we have two very good kickers and punters, very impressed with the depth there. I was very, very impressed with Morestead, that guy is amazing.

Oh, one last thing. Our receivers dropped an awful lot of balls, both during warmups and during the games. Bobby Chase was guilty of dropping a lot.
Also, if you showed up late, fear not. The first several sets were run with two or three TE sets. After that, they went to a spread. Several sets with both Chase and Kennedy running patterns. We are so loaded with good tight ends and great athletes at WR that it is going to be hard to get folks playing time.
From what I saw, Sanders is running on the second team with Ferguson and Sledge. Pellerin and Chase are the starting wideouts, Givens in a 3 WR set, Warren is the 4th WR.
Also, is it me, or has Givens shrunk 4 inches and lost 40 lbs since he arrived? When he first showed up, he looked a lot bigger to me for some reason...

I was extremely disappointed with our quarterbacks. They over threw receivers, threw wide on passes attempted to receivers at the line of scrimmage, had difficulty handling the timing on the option pitch (although on one play the running back went far too wide) and threw into double and triple coverage all night. Things might get better when the regular backfield unit is playing together, instead of mixing up the players, but the quality of the passing was frightening!
Having said that, your positive comments seem on the mark.

It looked to me that Willis is much more effective when they roll him out instead of keeping him in the pocket.

Did we run the end around and then fumble play?
