Thanks, man. We're looking for an upset. Bennett said he'd like to have the opportunity to take a knee at Lubbock.

Screw taking a knee - I want to see Leach charging the field for Bennett for running up the score

We've had teams run up the score on us before. We just say we got to improve and move on. We don't wallow in self pity. We know it is bound to happen again and we will hear all about it and everyone will feel somehow vendicated.

Nebraska pushes us all over the field and beats us 56-3 and everyone laughs at us. Red Raiders talk about how far we need to go. Four years later, we return the favor and beat them 70-10 and somehow we are evil for doing it. I guess the acceptable margion of spanking is somewhere between 53 and 59 points.

OU hung 65 on us in 2002 and talk like they do it every year. We just said we need to improve and have.

Last year UT went for a fourth down on their final drive on the 17 to try to get one more TD, despite being up 35 at the time. We understand the mentality and understand there are a lot more important things to focus on in that game than UT trying to run up the score.

When teams spank Tech, everyone has fun laughing at us. When Tech does the spanking, everyone gets mad at us and calls us classless.

To the Miner, we fully realize UT is still the king and reigning NC. We've got a good program these days, no reason not to be proud of it.

Don't worry, we are bound to get spanked again and you guys will all have the opportunity to laugh at us.

Here's a good ending:

Ponies are up 10 with just a few seconds left, and we have the ball at the Tech 10-yard line. Have Willis take the snap and turn and sprint -- straight toward the Tech bench. Just before running out of bounds, drop to a knee at the sideline in front of Leach, and then hand him the ball as the whistle sounds.

Lmao. Perfect ending.

We need to really work to improve on our deep passing game the next two weeks before we should consider talking about a potential upset of Tech.

WE all love our team and yes, we are much better than 5 years ago.

Put the brakes on predicting a knee down win at Lubbock.

Lets score 35 and see what that gets us.

Go Mustangs.

I love the Tech defense of their classless act.

Defense 1: We've had the score run up on us, too! We got better! Cute, but (a) you complained then; (b) both games mentioned involved Tech being unable to beat second and third teamers at the end of the game. Tech had its starting lineup in the game.

Defense 2: We had to throw because that is our offense! Tech Running Backs were averaging five yards per carry. Look at Tech's last offensive series against Kansas that year in a game they only won by one point. They started the series in better field position than the SMU game with less time on the clock: Four straight handoffs to the running back. The only difference is that Leach knew there was a chance he could lose if there was a turnover. Since he knew that wasn't possible in the SMU game, he felt free to try and run it up.

The only people that defend classless coaches are classless fans.

what does Vegas say Tech is favored by? Those guys usually have a decent idea. If its three touchdowns or more i'd say we need to ease up on the upset talk.

I do think Willis was bothered by the foot thing the other night, probably effected his concentration. I do wish we had an experienced Phillips under center, but willis will be much better than he showed the other night.

I don't mind when the sorry sob tries to run up the score on OU or Nebraska cuz those teams go in cycles and makes for good rivalries - its when he feels the need to run it up on the 0-11 Indiana States and the Sam Houston States.

I did notice Willis limping often. Especially right after that 8 yard run he had.

I had no problem with Tech throwing the ball at the end of games, regardless of the score. Tossing the ball to Taurean Henderson WAS their running game for the last four years. The only issue two years ago was the last-second substitution to get new personnel in at the end of an already-decided game. But westexSMU is exactly right, let's figure out a way to pull off what would be a bigtime upset before worrying about how to deliver any messages or lessons. I'm pretty sure that's the last thing on Coach Bennett's mind.

[quote="Hoop Fan"]what does Vegas say Tech is favored by? Those guys usually have a decent idea. If its three touchdowns or more i'd say we need to ease up on the upset talk." I saw a few weeks ago that the Vegas Line came out with SMU +28 v Texas Tech. Without a deep passing game to keep them from loading the line of scrimmage to stop our run game, that should be about right. BUT I'm going to Lubbock regardless.
