Willis Performance Predictions ...

Anyone care to go on record on how they think Willis will perform in the Tech game and for the rest of the season?

I think he will be quite good and solidify the QB position. He will bring back memories of Flanigan.

Does that mean that he will be at SMU for 8 years?

Prediction - (you asked for predictions right?)

Willis:
14 of 22 completions 142 yrds - 1 pic, 1 TD
11 rushes for 65 yrds

Martin:
23 carries 140 yrds, 1 TD

Fitzie:
7 carries 83 yards, 1 TD

Mapps:
4 carries 64 yards, 2 TDs

SMU Defense:
1 pic, 1 fumble
4 sacks & 11 pressures (resulting in the 2 pics)
1 safety

Final score: SMU 37 TTech 32

Sign me the ultimate sunshiner, but I feel good going into this one.
I may be nuts, but I feel good.

Averaging 8.5 yards a carry collectively for our backfield plus 4 TDs would be quite an impressive performance. I think we need to invent a new word for what that is. Uber-sunshiner maybe?

I think Willis will outpreform Romo's season last year. Say 2,100 yards passing on a 60% completion percentage with 18 TDs through the air and 10 INTs. Another 400 yards and 4 TDs on the ground. Of course this prediction is made under the assumption he isn't converted to TE at some point in the season.

300 Yards rushing and about 8 yards per carry against Texas Tech. And I don't know what I'm talking about? Rah! Rah! Rah! Go Team!

My guess would be 9 of 24 for 114 yards, 1 TD & 2 INTs, 1 for a TD and the other turns into a FG.

D. Martin 22 carries for 76 yards
Fitzgerald 4 carries for 9 yards
Mapps 2 carries for 22 yards; 1 for 17 and 1 for 5 then a fumble inside the TTech 25

Slater 0 for 4 with an INT returned for a TD.

Disclaimer: All of the above is based on past games when I've been optimistic, and what turns out to be reality. I really, really, really, really hope I'm DEAD WRONG.

352 yds on 45 carries for a nifty 7.8 average. That should vault SMU into the "Others Receiving Votes" category.

Martin
Fitzgerald
Mapps

I am pretty sure at least one of these guys (most likely Fitz or Mapps) will see no action in this game.

Willis will be eaten alive in Lubbock, then come back and squeak out a nailbiter over NTSU. We will see Slater by the 3rd quarter against Tech.

Well, Tech does tend to employ the wet paper bag defense(1), so it could get ugly.

OC, I think you’re going through So Cal withdrawal. Those are stats you might throw around after a drinking binge at our favorite Long Beach sports bar.
